HEYBOER's work is very good. I am not sure if ELECTRA PRINT (Las Vegas) is still around. Jack Eliano is an expert transformer winder and a tube expert.
Jack is still around but doesn’t do power transformers anymore; he recommends Edcor for that. However, like most people, I’m sure he has a price and will make an exception if the price is right.
I had sent the drawing of the new transformer to Edcor but they declined. Heyboer’s price is $525 plus shipping.Jack is still around but doesn’t do power transformers anymore; he recommends Edcor for that. I just checked with Edcor for my own project and the setup fee is $300 by itself, so I’d say that’s a competitive price.
hey Wgs57,
good job, maybe you can ask then to wind two parallel stands of smaller enameled wires for primary instead of a single big wire, my reasoning is that the two strands will make for a smaller coils build ups...
example: #9 with 13087 circular mils, diameter of 2.91mm can use 2 strands of #12 with 6535 cm, diameter of 2.05mm...

From me, that is a tough one to ask as I am not that much a technical person. I appreciate your reply though Tony as you have been very helpful. I don't have a history with both of you unfortunately to make an educated comment to Heyboer Transformers. I will have to hope they will give me a great product. Luckily the PT has been redesigned and the amp designer feels this should create a long-lasting PT for me. Fingers Crossed!!!hey Wgs57,

I spoke to my tech as well who will place the new transformer and he feels the price is fair as well. It's just the USD to CAD that doesn't help. I hope I don't have to pay duty but I expect to pay a tax upon entry to Canada.I just checked with Edcor for my own project and the setup fee is $300 by itself, so I’d say that’s a competitive price.

i helped a member here with this phono preamp and i designed a power traffo for him, years ago, Heyboer Transformers did a ten traffo run i think....that is why i recommended them to you, if there is anyone on the states who could do it, then Heyboer Transformers is it...
Heyboer didn’t balk at making the transformer…everyone else did. They either replied a flat no or they couldn’t say why the manufacturing dep’t wouldn’t take it on. It bothered me that the original manufacturer, Hammond, wouldn’t step up to take it on. But Heyboer did and I can’t thank you enough for that advice.i helped a member here with this phono preamp and i designed a power traffo for him, years ago, Heyboer Transformers did a ten traffo run i think....that is why i recommended them to you, if there is anyone on the states who could do it, then Heyboer Transformers is it...
