it surprises the XYL that anything ever gets built in this lab -- but I usually manage a few square inches on which to work -- what does your operating theatre look like?

It looks familiar..
Jack: I am also quite fond of the "All tools on deck" approach when it comes to working ....You have set the standard for the rest of us to follow!...

No picture but since I have an apartment with one room and a kitchen at about 37m2 I have to use the Kitchentable, good thing that I'm using it for something 😀
My bench looks about the same, except the stacks of stuff around my little "clean spot" (work area) is about 2 feet taller than in your pic.
Edit:
I've got one of theose Heatkit PSU's also (the one on the right) Except that mine says "Zenith" and has a blue case.. perhaps it's a factory wired version?

My older bench's used to look like that but now i have to be tidy.. my computer sits on the same desk. Im trying my hardest when im done one project put it away OR at least put it into a container with all the bits and pieces it requires for next attempt.
Sigh.
I wish my workbench was as tidy as yours. Maybe if i start clearing it a bit, but i'm afraid i will never find tools/parts again if i do.
And there has to be at least 4 projects goin' on at the same time.
( I'm also a lucky om, no yl/xyl to
my head when i make a mess)

J,
You’re not alone.
What I tell people who bust my chops about my work area at home (in a converted linen closet) is..
"Creativity is not clean. If they need a bigger example, just look to the asteroid belt."
If someone want's to put up a photo, I can send you one of my benches here for doing air conditioner motor controllers. It's got some company test equipment, some eBay wins, and some stuff we fished out of the trash here on base.
Either way it's something worth doing.
Each of us has our own way of working.
Much luck

Quasi,
I was going to write all kinds of rude things... until I saw the third photo... whew!
I wish I could do that!

What?
You?
Rude?
...unimaginable.
Let me assure you....it's not always that tidy and the camera is forgiving.
Cheers
