Your most hated chip amp

Here the 'good fake' STK4141 last a long time, with the warning not to change volume too fast.
Mine runs at 27V, a lot less than max., which I think helps, speakers are 6 ohms or so.
I use the PC program to change volume if needed, even pots are hard to get these days.

In passing, it seems all the high voltage ( more than 50V total) Class AB chip amps are being phased out by the original makers.
Lower voltage and Class D seem to be the new ones to use.

Eventually DIY audio will be reduced to “Buy a class D module and stick it in a box, power it with a wall wart“. And if you want to do anything with the signal chain (including change the volume) write code for a DSP.

Old timers are gravitating back toward tubes.
