Hi!
My suggestion would be:
Operation: Livecrime by Queensryche
Near perfect sound, and the live performance is so close to the studio recorded "Operation: Mindcrime" that it scares me every time I listen to it...
But beware: It is a concept album...

My three best live records:
1.) Pink Floyd: Pulse
2.) Eric Clapton: Unplugged
3.) Deep Purple: Made in Japan
But the best of the best records (overall) for me are:
1.) U2 - The Joshua Tree
2.) Dire Straits: Love Over Gold
3.) Pink Floyd: The Wall
best regards,
LEON

I'll second Hell Freezes Over. I save the concert in Houston and the CD still gives me goosebumps on the Joe walsh songs.
Try older Crash Test Dummies studio stuff. Roberts obviously has "Issues". I love his baritone voice blurting out is odd contemplations (A Worms Life and God Shuffeled His Feet)
also any of the Jimmy Buffet live albums.
I know, some of you can't get past the 70's thying to please corprate recording profesionals studio stuff. I too think it sucks.

Um, quite a few. MTV unplugged (back when they still played music, remember?) gave me two of my favourite live albums: Nirvana's and AIC's unplugged concerts. I just ran Alice in chain's on the background as i haven't listened it in quite a while and i suddenly reminded how much i liked this CD. The mix, guitars and voices are just perfect, and you gotta admire how the band took the edgy grunge songs and turned them into mellow ballads.
Highlights: "Brother", "Nutshell", "No excuses" & "Over now".

From the Camper Van Beethoven CD boxed set 'Cigarettes and carrot juice', the live disc, 'greatest hits played faster'. Saw them live last week after a 15 year wait and it was the best gig I've been to for yonks
The BBC sessions are some of the most pure recordings ever.pquadrat said:1. Led Zeppelin: BBC Sessions
No effects, just very dry and emotional.
Led Zeppelin is definitely cool.
My favourite though is the session of Free.
Every rock fan should have listened to "Ride on a pony" of that session.
Two additions, urgently needed in my opinion: 😀
-Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Weld
-Rainbow: On Stage

just to name a few
1. Eric clapton - unplugged
2. Dave matthews - live at luther college
3. Pearl jams - live concert recordings any of them are good

:: G3: Live in Concert ::
The summit meeting of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson was a dream come true for guitar fanatics, and surprisingly, it actually met expecations.
roadkill said:Still can't think of a favourite, but "G3 Live" comes close. "Attitude Song" is a good one.

What sort of crowd have I fallen in with?

I have seen loads of commercial albums here!?
I would think within this non commercial hifi stuf there would also be a lot of non commercial music, or am I wrong?
My personal choice would be Pride 'n Glory
