Come on folks, this is the place to admit your shameful sound systems of the past and to show us how you've progressed.

I started with this in my bedroom:
amstrad.jpg

Yep It's an old amstrad tower system, pretty awsome for the day.

Then it all went down hill for a while, the amstrad broke and in came the binatone tower hifi (lord help me)

Next (late 80s) I had a Matsui ghetto blaster with detachable speakers (oh dear)

Shortly after I became a proper badboy and got one of those 3D superwoofer ghetto blasters (sounded no better than the matsui).

Much later on I preceeded to heat s++t up a little and I got a kenwood KA 3020 amp and a Philips CD164 Midi sized cd player. HOWEVER Been a young teen I was'nt rolling in cash so I had to use the old speakers from the amstrad tower hifi 😱 The bass reflex some total for these speakers was a tiny hole cut in the chipboard and that was it.

Unhappy with the bass I then went out and got me a pair of Jamo D-265s from tandy along with a GENNexxa 10 band EQ. I was in heaven The bassiest loud sound I'd herd, I was well impressed!

After many more years of dicking about Here's where I stand today.

4x Behringer EP4000 Power amplifiers.
2x Crown I-T8000 Power amplifiers.
2x Behringer CX3400 Super X Pro Stereo 3 way Crossover.
1x Behringer DEQ2496 Ultracurve Pro equalizer.

I will post my speaker piccys in the loudspeaker system pictures thread soon (camera died).

My first stereo that I bought consisted of a Kenwood integrated amp and a pair of Yamaha 3-way speakers that were basically made out of cardboard 😀 The woofers eventually met their demise from sine sweeps and a 1kW car amp I had at the time 😉

Went on to a Decware Zen Select, and it was all downhill from there.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Had a fling with a Bottlehead Foreplay 2 in front of it...

Went even further into the deep end with monoblocks:

The Klipsch Forte IIs were soon changed to BIBs:

Was using a NAD 3020 for a preamp, found an ARC SP9-MKII from a local seller:

Had a few more line stages that I didn't get pictures of, a Rogue 66 and Audible Illusions Modulus 3A.

Only have the amps, BIBs and sub (Adire Rava) now...had to sell the AI Mod to pay for part of my last tuition payment 🙁

Fra too much for me too even remember, but perhspd sn snrcdotr or 2 ...

HiFi zero was my parents flip down Silvertone... when i was 12 i tore it apart, built new enclosures for the speakers (wood salvaged from a mandarin orange crate, and rehoused the amps, and turntable. Amp was later (much later) rebuilt 5-Buck Amp

The 1st hifi i bought (at age 16 from the proceeds of my 1st summer job) was a Noresco receiver with a Dual 1210 built into the top. Instead of the stock speakers (7" Philips FR), i choose a set of Patterson Industry speakers (with an 8" RSC FR). At the time i didn't know anything of FR. Loved that little hifi...

My first exposure to hi-fi was in the late 60's and my dad bought a sony receiver , thorens TT, KLH speakers , AKAI tape deck . This setup later became mine , where i had bought an homemade tube from a friend (disaster) Dynaco tube , OK , i used the sony receiver as the pre and many summer jobs later ( 16 ) i got a deal a sweet deal on a Pr of mac MC3500 , which was being put out to pasture to make way for (2) MC 2300 ... 😀

These amps served me faithfully for 3 yrs with said KLH and my first custom speaker build ( heil with 2 (12) inch woofers ) and just about the same time a friend had introduced me to a custom built SS amp ( 1978) and the macs where history , wow the difference was staggering , this thing was a monster, even beside the behemoth macs , dual chassis , regulated power supply 16 output motorola's , unbelievable sound. ahhh the early years , when hi-fi was actually fun , how things have changed .

Sorry no pics ....
