Since this is my first project and I have a limited budget, I'm going for as simple of a setup as possible. Due to the space constraints of my dorm room, the Overhead Projector/panel setup is out of the question. Here's what I've picked up so far:

Toshiba 4" tft monitor: $72 including shipping
Fresnel Lens: $5 (yep, bought it for the 100" tv project....didn't put it together once I got it and figured out the idea was crap, but I'm holding onto it to disperse light to my lcd.)
Fujinon 4.5" big screen projection lens: $20
Plywood & Screws for the cabinet: $15

Once I can afford to put some more cash into this, I'll be looking into lighting and ventilation. For the screen, I'm looking into getting some canvas drop-cloths that one of my friends may be getting rid of. We've used them as rear projection screens for AV affects at a few raves we have put on, and they worked very well, but if I get the material I will probably go over it with some silver paint.

Distance from screen

Space Ninja,
How far is your projector from the screen(wall)? I will be building my projector shortly and I am trying to figure out how far from the screen my projector needs to be in order to achieve 132". The monitor I will be using is a CMV1515, so it is similar to yours. How does the picture quality look at 132"? Also, does anyone have any links to suppliers for blackout cloth sold big enough for 132" diagonal ("7' x 9")?

Thanks for the anwers,

Spinnaker

ND I bought the sound blaster live! 5.1 here is the link to new egg where I bought it from http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=0&submit=Go&description=SB0226
I did not think it was a bad price I don’t think it is the best one out there but it sounds pretty good. I don’t really have anything else to compare it to except for the Dolby digital from my Xbox and I think they sound the same. I would be interested in a link for the comparison of the sblive and Santa Cruz if you have one. I did not do much research before I bought it.

Spinnaker the triplet lens on my projector is almost exactly 10 feet away from my wall. I used to have it about 8 feet away and was getting a little bigger than a 7 foot image. I have to say the picture quality is excellent at 132". I do see slight screen door but none of my friends or family notice even after I try to point it out to them. It does not bother me though it still looks awesome. The picture looks just as good as when I had it 8 feet away. Here is a link to black out cloth bigger than 54" tall it will almost fit the 132" image perfect. The only problem is that it is actually two pieces of blackout cloth pre sewn.http://www.wdrake.com/shop/product.cfm?icat_item_num=12720

o0o kool, I had a SB live but it wont work with my logitech Z speakers so im now using my onboard ac97 6 channel sound.I had a site which compareda LOT of card(mostly all of em) and Sb live was ranked "ok" among the best was the M audio Revelution and near perfect was the Santa cruz, so that why im gettin a S cruz their liek 20$ on ebay 🙂

since you already have an SB card try this (if you havent already)
http://discuss.futuremark.com/forum...275807&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=1

you can get hacked drivers here that make you 5.1 an Audigy card ,Audigy and Audigy2 and so on...I used it on m Sb live card and its great!

ND 🙂

nd

nd what a crock of crap, the audigy card drivers work with only some live cards and only some things work, its a diferent chip for starters and no way will the audigy 2 card drivers work with a live, its totally not compatible not to mention the sound on a live is nothing compared to an audigy 2 so u cant possibly make a sblive 5.1 into a audigy 2 card, its got a different processor and 8x cleaner dac's for starters, u can run audigy software on a audigy2 card but then that dont make it sound any better nor u fully operational.

nd

nd the only thing it unlocks is a parametric eq and if u searched around on the net there are cracks to get the eq going in normal live drivers that do work properly with the card, other than that u wont get any more feature's.
