It's all about how much cream you want to spend on one of these beautie's..

Here's another suggestion though!

Why not just buy an Xbox, put in a 80-200gb HD, mod the damn thing, install EVO-X, XBMP, Progressive Scan DVD hack and all that stuff?

You'll get a nice entertainment system AND an expletive deleted game console at the same time!! 🙂 (Note: I said expletive deleted because I'm not really a big fan of T3H XDUDE, although this IS what I'm going to do myself 😎 )

I guess the one think i would want to know is if the firmware is upgradable for future version of the divx codec. Xbox is a great thing to mod... and your really kicking microsoft in the *** by doing it 😀. Not that i would know or anything, but you can rent games an copy them to yuo hard drive... not that i would. That is against the law 🙂.

LiteOn LVD-2001

I bought the LiteOn from PCclub.com for $139 + $18 S&H. But before I did that I have been downloading movies (got about 90 now - burned on cdr), in preperation for this thing. It took me two nights to sit down and test my cdr's, but out of the 90 discs - about 10 actually played. It turns out that this thing can only play DivX 3.11 and above, and nothing before it. Most of what's out there is versions 1 and 2.

I left a message with the LiteOn tech support - I'll let you know when I hear from them.
I also read in another forum somewhere that you might be able to drop a codec on a cdr and upgrade the player that way.
Does anybody know if this is true? I would appreciate the help here as I am a little frustrated at the moment.

Thanks all,

bt3d

El Cheapo Progressive Scan

My local Fred's discount store is selling the compact little Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 for $40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Progressive Scan 3:2 Pulldown
MPG
JPG
Remote
Metal Case
Sweet.
And to think a year ago I paid $160 for my JVC Prog. scan player.....:bawling:

I've got one ot those Cyberhome 300's..Funky little thing..
I opened it up and bypassed the switching PSU caps with Sanyo Os-Con's cause I had them around-just for kicks-no other mods..(yet)
It actually sounds pretty good playing audio CD's,not bad for $39! 😉
It seems to play DVD's fairly well,Ive only watched a couple movies on it,but it seems pretty decent.

Does anyone know what DAC,etc these use? Guess I could open it up again and find out.. Any other known mods for them?
