Yes - but can you hear it?

I am considering buying the Audio Digit T Amp 2020-M unit from Autocostruire.it.

I'll be using this with a set of Mirage Omnisats (sensitivity 89dB, 8 ohms) and a REL Storm subwoofer.

My concern is - will this little amp will be powerful enough to fill my large listening room (10m x 8m). I don't playing deafeningly loud ever but would like to be able to hear it comfortably.

I see that 41hz have a much more powerful (on the face of it) amp in the Amp2 would that be a better bet.


Any opinions, guys?

For a listening level of 90 dB, you will need close to 1W/channel.

But then peaks may go up to 12 dB above average = 16W/channel.

I would go to at least 25W/channel for some margin.

My listening room is about 50 m2 and I have 90 dB speakers (4 Ohm) driven with the Audiodigit amp. For normal listening the amp is loud enough, but if you occasionally want to hear really loud music, you are approaching its limits.

But it sounds excellent 😉

Thanks guys - that is very helpful.

Mick_F - sounds more or less exactly what I need. I normally listen to jazz and definitely don't need earsplitting levels. I think I'll be giving it a try - after all the price is really reasonable.

The Amp2 seems to be lot more powerful but I am not sure how this translates in actual performance.

I think AMP2 is a pretty big leap from a 2020 based amp. If your looking for the next step up, I would recommend the AMP1-B. Don't be cheap and settle for the AMP1, the extra couple dollars for the AMP1-B with its protection circuitry and auto dc offset adjustment is well worth it.

Was wondering if you'd heard both the Audio Digit and the AMP1-B and what you thought of how they compare?

Basically I am pretty sure that they will both sound really nice but I am worried that there won't be enough oomph to fill my large room.

I am using Mirage Omnisat 89dB 8 ohm speakers and a powered REL Storm subwoofer. The Rel basically connects to the speaker output terminals and is then further amplified in the subwoofer itself. If I understand the specs correctly this "High level" input presents an input impedance to the power amp of 100k ohm unbalanced.

Any thoughts or observations?

Of couse,

Me being nuts and one slightly intoxicated i recomend you build one. But thats if you have nothing better to do and a very understanding partner........

a little money will get you a lot of quality sound but it will never look tidy.....

Me being nuts I couldn't wait any longer and went and bought the AudioDigit amp. Am listening to it now and it is really, really good.

Could do with a bit more power though - so might investigate the Amp5 when that comes out.
