I'm getting the vibe big time.
having trial tested my Meng yue X1 (after earthing mod, and using it on a 220V regulated PSU), i have to say, zero hum and zero hiss. dead quiet.
And the sound stage is lovely! I sounds so airy and spacious! that was with CD, so I'm in for a treat when using SACD and vinyl.
I'm already considering my next purchase, which I plan to do when I am in Shanghai (should give me very decent prices indeed!).
I'm considering getting a Yarland Pro845.
My question is though: has anyone tried this amp out? I've seen 845 IY projects that go into the lower thousands of euros (not an option), but haven't seen anything on the fairly cheap (700 USD ish, ex P&P, from cattylink). I have good hopes for this amp, but I'd like to hear form others what their experiences are.
Another question I have concerns the use of 12AX7's and AU7's. Many people seem to be quite negative about these valves, them being not very pleasant sonically, or in general use not very practical. Yet pretty much all the cheap Chiense amps utilise exactly these valves. So why would they not be so suitable, and why are they used so plentiful despite their negatives?

I can only warn you from buying at Cattylink - I got cheated by them (ordered a CD player and they sent another player) - they never responded to any mail. Another guy I met in a forum hat the same problem.
Keep your fingers away - the prices might look o.k. but the risk to loose money is too high !

I've heard one of these and was not impressed.The Mr Liang 845 is far better,and indeed walked all over a Unison 845 at a meeting I attended.Given the Unison is about 4k,the Liang is quite a bargain.Another great sounding amp is the Audioromy FU-13,using the 813.A superb amp,with more power than the Liang.I've owned both the Liang and Audioromy.
Thanks for the headsup on cattylink. I don't consider buying from them as they are HongKong based, which means shipping at extortion rates. However, I will be going to Shanghai for long term secondment, and I was considering popping into one of the shops and buying it there directly. But before I do, I will contact the manufacturers directly to ask about a recommended shop. Yarland warns about shops selling copies.
I will consider the Mr Liang actually. I guess if I go to a shop, I will have a chance to actually audition it.

I've done some more investigating, and actually, the Mr Liang (or Mr Liung as sometimes called), seems to have quite a fab 845 amp there! One problem: How much do they cost, and where can I get one???

Anyway, Affordable Audio (an Internet Ezine based in US) published a review on a Audio Renaissance 845 integrated amp which is the same as the Mr. Liang LS-845-5. The website address of Mr. Liang is there. The price mentioned in the review is 950US$. The English version of the website is very rudimentary. Look like one can buy over the Internet from Mr. Liang (based at Wuhan, not too far from Shanghai, may be 10 hours by train). There are more info about the amp in the Lampizator website.
