Just completed a new sub cabinet, 3/4 mdf with mitered corners and covered in cherry veneer. The driver and amp came out of a Yamaha sub that was given to me for free. I was quite boomy and didnt fit the decor of my living room so I thought I would try to see if I can improve the sound from these parts. I did change the size of the box and opted to chuck the venturi shaped port for a 2.5 inch. I am an avid woodworker and this was my first veneering attempt which turned out pretty well. Finish is Minwax wipe on satin poly, 5 coats. I am very happy with the sound results, much much tighter, low end is much cleaner. Its not a very powerful sub by any means , makes nice fill in for the vintage gear in the living room.

Pictures too small even expanded to see detail, but overall looks nice! Which Yamaha sub? Got any driver, amp model #s, driver T/S specs or did you just basically replicate the original to get a different shape and/or 'look'?

The sub is SW-P270, 50 watts, 100 watts peak, 16 cm driver, the box shape is different, original was a narrow and tall. The internal volume is just a hair larger. The service manual does not list any t/s parameters.
