hai friends my YAMAHA CX 1000 vintage stereo control preamplifier motor driven volume control is not responding to remote signal. i found that when i am using the remote to raise or lower the volume the motor is rotating but the volume knob is not rotating.
any suggetions?

You found that when using the remote to raise or lower the volume the motor is rotating but the volume knob is not rotating. That tells me that the remote IS responding. Check to see if the motor is actually turning the potentiometer.

Edit: Since the knob isn't turning I suspect the motor isn't turning the pot and its not an actual circuit fault.

Hi kdlsrinu,
Nice preamp.
Since the motor is turning but not the control, you have a mechanical failure. I assume you can hear the motor turning.

Since you live in a hot area, it is possible the nylon gear on the motor shaft has cracked due to expansion. If you manage to fix it, it may not last. See if you can get a new control from Yamaha. Others may work, but shaft length and end style (for the knob) may differ. Make it easy on yourself and get the original if you can.

The last option is to accept that you must get up to change the volume.
