No kidding, I heard that rubbing a white ring stain in shellac hard with mayonnaise and a cloth will help evaporate the stain out. Is the mayo critical? I don't know, never had to try it.
Check google for shellac and mayonnaise. I'm surprised that more than one result recommends this method.

Thanks for the tip; it may have helped with the cheeseburger too. My wife used some patented miracle product on it and it looks almost perfect, except for maybe missing a few layers of shellac.

Which leads me to a question. I measured RMS voltage at 1KHz just before visible clipping on the scope is apparent. Is this the usual way or is the point just before clipping not the standard metric? Since it seems most specs also quote a THD at rated power, the power, it would seem, is toned down until a desirable THD spec is found and then the voltage is taken?

Great job and one to emulate if possible.
Dude with ring on his table. Get youself a damp(not dripping but wrung out) cloth and an iron. Put the damp cloth on the ring and palce your hot iron on the cloth. Warm it up and check often. The white rings are water that is trapped under the finish. The damp heat will release it. Btw french polish looks nice but it has pitfull wear characteristics. Not reccomended for a high wear surface.

Beautiful piece, Tuco ...I mean relder! I am sure you are enjoying every minute with your ears and eyes. I 'm also trying my hand on wood. I've settled with rubbed-on Teak/Golden Oak oil. French polish will be nice too, if I'll learn and have patience to do it. I've read people rubbing in 10 coats of shellac for max protection. 🙂
