Hi all
Just realised that the new XXLS range doesnt have a vole piece vent on the rear! Klippel were studying this and thought it was better also
Interesting stuff!

E. Vented Cone
To eliminate compression under the dust cap the cone is vented by 8 large holes.
This way the coil is cooled and there is no need for a bore in the pole piece.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
I had no idea that peerless were going against the popular trend of massively sized vented pole pieces! I obviously didnt inspect the XLS sheets enough
Cheers!
Cheers!
Mike, Although this thread may not seem to be very thought provoaking, I just had a wonderful idea looking at the cutaway of the XXLS. I'd share it, but its not patented or anything.
But theres another idea. I know this forum is full of intellegent people and I'm sure some of them have patented ideas... I have quite a few ideas I'd like to patent, but I'm pretty clueless about how I would go about getting such a thing done. Maybe I'll start a thread about patenting ideas.

Klippel definately had a positive view of no pole piece venting,il have to revisit it to see why. as to patents well, theres alot of people doing patents that means they can say' patented magic audio system' while the patent has no practical merit.
Cheers!

Ohh I definately know what you mean. Kinda like patenting something like the bass reflex enclosure or something. I assure you, I have some very unique ideas that serve purpose. I started a thread. It's called "How to Patent your Basstastic Ideas"
no pole vent is an advantage for W frame dipoles like linkwitz uses - they can be small. With only 1" excursion, it's probably an easy way to do it. This new driver looks virtually identical, except the parameters ...
Yes i was waiting for a low distortion sealed box sub! Ofcourse the sealed box itself will make some 2nd order harmonics at high level anyway, but with the flux modulating rings the midrange distortion will be low.
