That house clamp holding the magnets should not be made of iron. Most of the magnetic flux will be short cutted and go that way instead of trough the magnetic voice coil gap.
I´m experimenting right now with extra magnets as well...
But in a different setup.

Would re-gausing the magnet perhaps have the same result?
Ive seen large car subs gain 30% magnet strength via being re energized.

Pretty cool experiment! I loath high Qes/Qms drivers! (they just don't model well for my projects! I have a few drivers here I'd LOVE to experiment with to get the magnetic field strength higher for a greater BL! The lower Qes should shrink the required box size nicely!
Not all of these apply to this scenario, but a lot of them with traditional magnet slugs do!

Those look to be about 3/8" diameter by about 1.5" long? Ebay has some at a pretty good price, N52 grade. For the magnetic gap to evenly saturated, they should be distributed very evenly around the perimeter, correct? Otherwise one area of the gap would have higher B and might cause a rocking condition on the voice coil(?)
