Xtc class d amp no output drive signal

The guy im fixing the amp for has 2 of the same amps but the one i fixed had a rail cap out so i took one out of his other amp then i tested it before I put it in the amp but then realised the uf is way less than what is printed on it then i took out another cap of the amp that works and it also reads 950uf actually all of them read round abt 930 to 960uf
What's up with that?

It's not surprising, in the least. Now, from a legitimate cap manufacturer, it would be.

Here's the thing... it probably doesn't matter. If they weren't causing any problem, 1000uF caps may be perfectly fine. Who says it needs 2200uF caps?

If this surprises, wait until you come across ICs that are intentionally mismarked by the IC manufacturer for the amp manufacturer. Not a relabeling. A perfect first marking.

It may also be surprising to some that amps don't meet spec in power, distortion or hardly any other ratings.

Welcome to the world of car audio.

The term 'stable' is essentially useless. It originally meant something entirely different than 'the lowest rated load impedance'.

What is it about the caps that makes you think they need to be larger?

Too many believe that larger/newer caps are always an improvement. Thousands of amps have had vias ripped out of the board by people 'upgrading' their amps, often making the replacement caps completely inoperable since they were no longer connected to the other side of the board by the vias. In many instances, having half of the original capacitance made no difference.

If you see that there is a problem caused by the 1000uF caps and you can find replacements that are 2200uF at the rated voltage and fit into the available space, replace them. Chances are that the originals are as they left the manufacturer and will be perfectly fine.
