XSD Speaker Crossover and Waveguide GB

I did a quick search and only found the 6FE100 available at one source, USSpeakers , all others were out of stock, might there be another driver that will work that is more available? I did see some that looked to have pretty good specs but they cost even more than then PRV and a lot more than then 6FE100 but I have also never looked into such drivers until now.

I recall a TB driver you mentioned that would work though 90db instead of 95db like the PRV.

I'm in the UK. I'm not in the XSD gang at the moment but if I can assist in getting 6FE100 out to you guys I can sure try . I think Blue Aran and Lean Audio are general stockist of Faital. Granted the usual import duty thing would be an issue .

I love the design of the PRV so wonder if the 6.5 version would work out, shows in stock at PE, $134.

Very kind to offer help in getting the 6FE100🙂 In stock here for only $46.95 at USSpeakers so OK on that for now, unless it becomes unobtainium as well🙁

Yes, that B&C does look promising.
By no means even close to being an kind of "expert" I am recalling more of past knowledge I had long time forgotten, thanks to this thread and certain Emails I have received🙂

I looked at all the published specs and overall the 6" PRV is closer is some aspects than then B&C so might be easier to adjust the crossover if needed. I need to go back and look at the mid to tweeter crossover point to be sure the 6 could work.

I am seriously considering some sort of DSP solution as it looks like I will be testing several things with this build, most of which I have in horns, mids, tweeters, etc but none are anything like the mids and tweeters used in this design. At least I can find what works in my not so easy RV install the best then if I want can go to passive crossovers, single or bi amped, etc.

I have a bunch of amps to play with(most the same 30wx6) which can be bridged per pair to 60 watts.
------
It would be really cool if I could use two of the bridged channels, 60w, per 2 or 4 of the eight 8" drivers using in the SLOB section, never looked into that before, bare minimum would be getting the gains set exactly right.

Curious thought: Very different basket and or motors on some of these drivers. Some very open baskets, some very closed, some motors more compact than others, both of which can effect air flow out the back of the driver and thus dispersion. How much will these add up to change the way the drivers work in an OB, or otherwise, design. I would think the more open ones would be best as the front to rear outputs would be closer to the same but maybe not so or listening area dependent.

Open to responses based on experience, conjecture, etc🙂

That Peerless sure would look cool in OB, on the back side🙂

Did you take a look at this driver? It seems it should work quite well, just a bit bigger than the original version in the XSD.

4 or 8 ohm, in stock at PE

Thanks for the tip. Could work but response is a bit rough.

Put me on the list if you wish for the crossover and tweeter flares for the XDS8's, I will have to get busy and sell parts and gear I no longer need to fund them. I I was considering going active as plan to try different speaker designs if these do not work out in my limited space but decided to keep it simple and go passive and hope it works out🙂
