I'm not familiar with the setup.

I do think I ditected some math funnies earlier 1.2 Kw lamp is only going to draw about 10 amps. Ergo a 575 is only about half that.

Perhaps I'm being overly cautious, but I dont so. Even just 10 amps is significant with a presurised light souce. If the seal lets go the thing will take off like a rocket

10 atm. at room temp?

Xenon projector lamps are pressurised to 10 atmospheres. That's why they're so dangerous.

Im assuming that that is the room tempature and not the operating tempature?

I think that the smaller lamps like those used in the Bell and Howell 16mm film projectors receive extra support around the seals making them safer to operate.

My recollection is that one of these light sources could though respectable 15-18 foot diag. image across a 50-foot room.

Been meaning to ask you about the name Psionic.
PSION, Potter Scientific Instruments or Nothing?
I also recall from watching the Kevin Smith movie, "Dogma" that the Psion is the angel who speaks Gods words, as Gods own voice is so mighty that it would destroy our earthly bodies.

Is either meaning close to yours?

Ah, I was referring to the grown-up xenon arc lamps used in commercial cinemas, not footling little incandescent bulbs that include xenon to allow a slightly higher operating temperature of the tungsten filament. (They're good bicycle lights, though.)

And yes, that's 10 atmospheres at room temperature.

arc lamps

referring to xenon arc lamps...

same here, the xenon lamps I was refereeing to were between 100 and 300 watts and came mounted in a small reflector about 2x the size of an MR-16. Teflon leads came out the side and go to a connector similar to what you would find on a small laser tube.

Bell and Howell used to put these things in their 16m projectors for applications that needed long throws and portability. The lamps power supply sat in a separate box under the projector connected by an umbilical chord

I’ve also seen the larger lamps you are referring to on 16 and 35 mm projectors made by Eike, and International, I think they both had Strong light houses on them.
