ok here it is...

i just purchased an xbox for the soul perpose of kicking the c.r.a.p. out of a few friends back east in halo2, i plan on using a keyboard/mouse adapter for game play, so things will get interesting.
but i want to use one of my crt vga monitors for video(portability) and not the tv, so i have a few options, i could get this http://www.x2vga.com/
but i dont trust the website and the ones on ebay go fast and pricey, also i cant hook up my xbox to a hdtv with just hd component video if i want to, i would have to get the hd pack for the xbox anyway. not only this but i wouldn't beable to connect my gamecube or ps2, dvd, etc to the display either. i also want to display 480p, 720p and 1080i any time i want.

now my options are these:

1: http://www.keydigital.com/lprodi.asp?Ic=KDXB witch is what ppl say is a kickbut product, but im not sure if it a good enough product for what i want to do so im looking for ppl that have extencive expereance with this one.

2: http://www.keydigital.com/lprodi.asp?Ic=KDCTCA3 now this look to be a better quality device and same as above would like to know what ppl think, im not so sure of price at the moment, ive been looking at these converters for 3 or so hours know and price was not the biggest issue at the moment, specs, reviews, and options were.

3: http://www.vdigi.com/index.php?page...2fdaeabe0bcd58c745d6286257&option=com_phpshop
now a lot of gamer sites have reviewed this and it sounds good to me, but again, i would like user exereince with this as well, also it looks like it would not work well with other hd components very well, like its geared more towards game systems than hd component to vga conversion, but im not sure.

now these are the options that i think are my best bet with the xbox high def kit and would like to know what you ppl think of them and to give me your opinion of these devices(please). also if any one has better transcoder suggestions, please post them and why you like it. or if anyone knows of or have a schematic for a high def component to vga transcoder that is simple, eazy to build, and low cost for parts and gives outstanding video quality that would be cool too... right know i just need some advice, using the tv svideo stinks, and buying a new tv is out of the question at the moment. so any opinions are greatly welcomed. thanx

oh, i for got to mention that i know about the vga output mods for the xbox, and that one is a no can do for the next year, i got my system used with a 1 year warranty for 150$, so when 7-7-06 hits is when ill mod this thing to all its worth, till then this is what im stuck with.

I just got my vdigi z3 and let me say, it looks awesome playing xbox on an 80" screen at 480p. Movies look pretty good too, but the movies have a refresh bar (only way i can describe it) that passing from the bottom of the image to the top but isn't that noticeable. Everything you input to the vdigi has to be progressive or it will not work. For your xbox, press and hold both triggers and press down on both thumbsticks to enable progressive scan so you can see the xbox dashboard (the green screen) or else you will get no image until you insert a game. I must say for the price, the vdigi is defintely good!

Just reading this makes me question the guy:

"This auction is great because it for a

Microsoft Xbox VGA Adapter

With this adapter your Xbox can be truly played. You connect to a Lcd monitor or any type of monitor for superior graphics in true High Definition. The adapter also has a digital optical output for crisp sounding good audio. Has a composite video output and stereo audio outputs also."

"this auction if great because it for a" and "digital otpical output for crisp sounding good audio" What, was this written by an 8 year old?

That's why I never buy anything over eBay. People are there just to try and screw you out of your money.

Hey sid,

I have the x2vga (got it from that website) it's not dodgy at all, quick delivery as well. I got one as did one of my friends and we’re both very pleased with the results. I've tried a few other transcoders/converters (viewsonic n5 and cp351f http://www.converters.tv/products/converters/other_products/137.html), but by far the cleanest crispest signal comes from the x2vga because there's no processing involved, it also gives you optical audio, (and analogue) out for dolby digital. I’d steer clear of the other devices because once you start processing the component signal then you’re going to get blurriness and degradation.

With halo 2 in mind, the only problem with the mouse keyboard combo is that the turning speed is limited (it's inherent to the game cos it's designed for use with the joypads) and if you turn fast you get all jerky movements...
