Can I use P.audio C18-650EL in the X1 cab? Freq 30-800 Hz. Imp 8 Ohm. Qts 0,31. Vas 170 l. Fs 42. Does anybody know of some other "small" suitable ways of getting high spl and nice bass out of theese drivers
It will work but it's more like a budget solution. I wouldn't expect the response as stated on speakerplans, Fs being rather high.
Bandpass (so X1) is the best way for this driver to get high SPL out of a relative small box. X1 isn't really small tho.
Hobbyist2004 (speakerplans forum) is (or was?) using this combination, so should PM/ask him for more info.

The speakerplans forum has several threads about drivers for the X1 design. I believe the Void V18-1000 is the most popular driver, then the P Audio SD18. The driver you are asking about works, but as Rademakers said, is only advised for when the cost of the driver is a problem.
are you talking about the wilson X1? That thing is rediculis, why would you ever want to clone it? It is huge. I would personally go for something smaller. But if you must clone the X1, I would suggest Ascendant audio's 18" avalanche.
A pair will cost you $800, but with 27mm one way excursion and over 1200cm^2 of radiating area you will get all the swept volume you ever need. The real X1 couldnt come close to the bang for your buck, and probably not too far off as far a sound quality goes also.
As far as I understood X1 was intended for use only below 30hz. Pro PA drivers are definately not the right suit here. You need something with MASSIVE excursion, and high Sd.

There seem to excist more X1's. The one we're talking about is the X1 from Rog Mogale (www.speakerplans.com).
It's intended for about 30 Hz-80/100Hz, f3 points are 31 Hz and 119 Hz, with a continues SPL of 131,5 dB @ 1m. The C18 650EL won't get you there. The SD-18 is the original driver but the Void 18 1000 has become the recommended driver (just look at it, or it's T/S-parameters and you'll know why).
