Well guys until you muck around with it you'll never realise
or understand. This is the dark world of audio. You can measure
& see no difference but in listening it's a different thing all
together, even a piece of wire can change the sound.
It's pointless to argue about this. Btw if one just looks at things
with close mindedness it is a sign that your progression in life
is already at a standstill

Cheers

Well it doesn't matter 'how' we feel something sounds different. If we think it 'does' sound different then go with it. It's all about satisfying the mind ! Sound can also vary with your 'mood' when listening to it. If your mind is peaceful, most things sound 'better' !😉

And JMFahey, yes, different colours can affect the 'sound' ! 😀 Not because the sound is actually 'altered' but because it affects our brain's 'perception' of it. THAT ( the brain ) is a BIG variable always !😉
Maybe more than the components themselves ?🙄

In a way your correct Ashok but it's not just a perception or to satisfy ones mind.
For me it's all about making whatever I build to mimick realism as much as possible.
Frankly how I approach it is something which western minds may not be able to swallow
but it works great for me. Most important is one must learn to be a good listener to begin
with.

Cheers

Yes, it certainly helps to know what things should sound like, but to my thinking he's going further than that and saying that that experience/learning actually helps our brain to "fool itself" into accepting what it knows not to be true ie, we are really hearing the instruments. Now, personally speaking, if I start questioning what I'm hearing too much it can spoil that illusion.

Actually we can NEVER replicate the original exactly ! The acoustics is always wrong and a lot of other uncontrollable factors come into play like reflections, uneven response, time delays etc. But we try to get what 'we think' sounds closest ! That's OK. It satisfies the 'mind'. 🙂

" What came first, the music or the misery? " Wouldn't that be misery ? Then the music arrived and lifted one out of the misery ?

Yes Ashok agreed, too many variables involved. Recordings with
different equipment different venues etc plus as you mentioned
our acoustic space. Well that part is another lesson in itself but
basically you wouldn't want to over treat the space & make it
sound dead. Actually its better to have a live room but not overly
so.

Well I was right when I mentioned "True Believers"
This has nothing to do about measurble or audible Music reproduction but Mysticism, Imagination, and *internal* brain processing, nothing related to the Real World.

Proven by:
how I approach it is something which western minds may not be able to swallow
that illusion comes from the state of mind
& that means we should always be in a meditative mood

Not bad in some Meditation or Spiritual Forum .... does not cut much ice here .... although having over 10000 members here coming from all walks of Life, you might statistically find a few who agree with you .... just not for Technical or Acoustical reasons but for Mystical ones 🙂

Sometimes "different" is perceived as "better", I think that is what goes on all the time with this twerking business 😉

I think you hit the nail on the head !
I think a lot of the audio business is based on this.
Nowadays it's become very artistic too. More and more 'pretty and artistic' looking equipment that costs a lot to make ( artistic!) and even more to buy !😱

Could have possibly come as a simple black box at possibly 1/10th the price ?:scratch2:
