WTB: Tentlabs volume control

Jos van Eindhoven does not sell kits/PCBs anymore (AFAIK). I think only Tentlabs sells the devices. They perform just like DIY versions 🙂

Speaking of DIY: I am not able to obtain even the simplest of parts and if I can get some parts the prices are insane. If things develop like they do now DIY will be 2 or 3 times more expensive than ready made devices.

The OP does not want a DIY/Jos van Eijndhoven device, he seems to want a ready made Tentlabs volume control. It is clearly described in post #1 which is only 4 posts earlier. With the current state of affairs the ready made version will possibly be cheaper than DIY or it will take till 2023 before it is ready.

beeah, if there is an issue ordering a new Tentlabs volume control I can be of assistance but prepare for relatively high shipping costs. The device has a very good reputation and outperforms many mechanical devices. I was about to order one myself 🙂

jean-paul, thank you for your offer to help. I have not tried to order one yet, as I thought there might be one sitting unused somewhere in the States. However, it seems that those have been put into service recently in the same project I am targeting…

Patrick, I’ve looked at that option, and while I can tolerate a few SMD joints my eyesight is not what it used to be. I’ve had boards fabricated before so that doesn’t bother me. And as pointed out, even in the US, procuring parts from multiple vendors is frustrating and costly.

In fact, I’ve looked at a number of options and have decided that I want a relay-based solution. The AMB stuff looks great, but it looks like costs pile up and it would be more expensive (and take up more real estate) than Guido’s solution. Khozmo is also pricey but attractive.

All that said, I’ve been building for 20 years - and I’ve built an amp, a preamp and a few LPS in the past few months alone - but I choose my battles. Your snarky retort wasn’t warranted, nor was it helpful in any way.

I only have a working relay based volume control from http://electronics.dantimax.dk/ that I no longer use
