I dont remember who it was. Doesnt really matter but somebody told me to remove the polarizers off my lcd because I didnt need them.
This is wrong. Lcds dont work without polarizers so many times as I was testing all I saw was screen door thinking my lcd is broken. Then I really broke my lcd even further beyond use trying to pull the last one off.
So the moral of the story is: If you dont know SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!

That is just a case of someone know knowing the the tech of an lcd works. Every one hear should go to www.howstuffworks.com and read about lcds. I mean if your going to be playing with this stuff, you should really know thoery behind it. It sounds like that person never built a projection becuse if they did it would not be working too well...

If it helps, i have kill my fair share of lcs... nview z210, nview media pro, parts express 5" (X2)... but know i am proud to say i can strip necs and other 15iners upside down and blindfolded... after a while you get good at this stuff 🙂.

a week or so ago, someone wanted to remove polarizing film from the screen. I actually laughed and said there is no way to remove the film from the screen because it is intergrated, and if he did, he would have a nice clear glass. Seems that I was wrong about not being able to remove that film.😎

I remember a few months ago I was thinking about removing the polarizer on the lcd and mod a new one in at about the fresnel before the lcd so there about be less heat buildup on the lcd module. Also, less light would be lost... at least that was the theory behind it. I do not belive any one over tried it.
Very smart VB, the infocus i have has somthing similar where the front polariser is on the lcd while the back polariser is about 3mm away from the back of the lcd on a very very thin peice of glass to take the heat away from the lcd, so there is the light reflector combo, condenser, first frensel, polariser on glass, the lcd with the polariser on the front, second frensel and then projection lens, thats not counting any mirrors but u get my point, great thinking although people dont try this unless u know how to take a polariser off.

Loose polarizers? You mean polarizers that are not really needed for the lcd to function? Why would manufacturer add extra polarizers if they were not needed?
Your LCD may not be broken.
I think the point of their thread was that the diffuser they use on the LCD to prevent glare is attached to the polarizer. To get rid of it you have to remove both and replace your polarizer with a new one.
You can buy sheet polarizer and it should work. The danger in the process is breaking the tiny connections in the panel with flexing while removing the layers.
This was a thread at LL btw and I had no part of it. I dont think i would try it. I might polish out the diffuser though 🙂
