Would you use a .56 Qts driver in a ported alignment?

in a vented alignment, I can sim a safe F3 of 80hz and with 32 drivers, SPL would drive most folks out of the room…….i just worry about a sloppy impulse and peaking response

Piston excursion calculator results ~ 32 sealed 3" drivers will do 114dB@1m@2mm xmax at 100 hz, 110dB@1m@2mm xmax@80 hz.

I'd suggest staying at 50% of xmax, perhaps 110dB at 80 hz, or so as a 'peak value'. Taking away headroom, might be ~90 dB capable@1m.

If you can picture the scale of this build, it should be apparent that the listening distance will be 10-12ft........i can't imagine those little tweeters that close together not summing...........comb lines should simply wash out.

I'm picturing about a 4ft build, from two columns of 3" drivers x 16 high. So needing maybe 32 of the little dome mids you like. Is that close?

For me, it's not about comb lines washing out or not....frequency response will be just fine for sure.
it's about a line array behaving in theoretical line array fashion, which I take to be emulating a point source in the time domain.
Iow, individual drivers not acting as multiple arrivals

Imo, the two major determinants for a line behaving as a line are:
the low frequency limit is a function of the length of the line (equal to about length of line =1 WL @f )
and the high frequency limit is a function of c2c spacing (generally considered to be around 1/2 WL....1/4 works for sure)

So with a c2c of 1.5" for the dome mids, and using that as 1/2 WL, ......it implies the line breaks at about 4500Hz, and multiple sources then arrive.

That's the beauty of ribbons and many electrostats, having miniscule/ nonexistent c2c, acting as a true line through VHF

posted wrong in another thread, here again my experience with a high q driver:

i finished a 2.1 system with a corner placed low tuned 80l reflex box and a cheapo noname 20cm bass with certainly high q (unknown thiele small parameters). Reflex heading right into the corner. And driver close to it.

Cannot complain about the bass it does - reaching low down to 30hz listening to a sweep. In room response at listening point is good.

I tried no damping at all inside and the active filtering at 100hz is good enough suppressing the mid frequencies. Amp is mini class d: Zk mt21 with cs8673 chips.

Was prepared to add damping and an extra magnet to the driver if bass is boomy but its not.

Also prepared a second driver for isobaric clamshell built but no need for this as it reaches low.

I am really fond of now building corner placed subwoofers aiming for max efficiency.

It is this "quality" of drivers, in this case only one sided with alu foil.
