Hi,
Hope I've posted this in the right place-
I'm looking to buy a pair of speakers which will run for at least 4-8 hrs on a battery and wondered if anyone here had any ideas?
My budget is £200-£500 depending how many boxes I can tick:
1. Loud enough to satisfy an indoor informal party with 150 people (2x 400 watt RMS?)
2. Low freq response (20hz ideally)
3. Portable if possible (would like to be able to move it on my own! hopefully has wheels)
4. Bluetooth would be great, definitely need to be able to mini jack in my phone/laptop somehow
5. Wireless mics (would be super handy for events) whether it comes with them or is simply compatible via bluetooth or radio. I guess I could potentially jack/RCA-to-radio them in?
Currently have this, which doesn't tick many of the boxes (does have Bluetooth, phono in, EQ, 3hr batt, only 50hz bass, very portable, only £210)
Thanks for any advice!
Luke

So get another one of those and a few external 12V batteries.
Then work on the 20Hz to 50Hz area with the remaining budget.

looong extention cord solves many problems.
consider renting or buying one the those nifty new inverterators from Honda or Yamaha
is that a new word? IDK that's what I call it

You're gonna really struggle to get 20Hz at any meaningful volume with something you can lift and run on batteries.
Are you absolutely sure you want 20Hz?
I'd expect the speakers you've linked might nudge 80Hz, but will likely be high-Qts drivers in an undersized box. I don't think they'll do 50Hz with any authority. Easy to check, though - fire up the signal generator.

Something like this will do nothing for 20 Hz, but will give lot's of output in the 45 - 100 Hz region, precisely where it's needed for your purpose. In your price range 20 Hz is something you should forget about, besides for informal parties it's not needed. I've had a 21 - 22 Hz battery powered sound system and it was just not portable enough, 750 liter for just the sub but with 175 W it sounded lush indoors.
