Too bad the referee went from doing such a good job in the beginning to whatever you call what he did near the end. Such a shame.
Nevertheless, congrats to Spain.
and
My heart goes out to the Netherlands.

Just curios about what people think of that Brazilian goal from the earlier game.
He was about one metre (yard) from the line on a very acute angle. It went in but was it a deliberate shot on goal or was it a cross gone "wrong"?
Any thoughts?

And the end of these for a few more years?
actually theres a lot of those leaving South Africa - expect them at some sporting event near you wherever you are in the world 😱
We got our fill of those things in the 'seventies. They were a big deal at high school football games.

Ya what's the deal? I never knew what they were called until this year but I have one, my brother has one, buddy has one. We don't even take them to the games anymore 'cause we're kinda tired of them and unless you're sitting near fans, they tend to pi$$ people off. We always referred to them as 'sports horns'.
Wasn't Arjen Robben robbed of a likely win for the Dutch by the ref not calling a penalty when he was tackled (as in, like an American football tackle) just a few meters from the goal. Surely, he wouldn't have missed a penalty kick from that distance?

He was badly upset by the ref decision to let it go, for sure.

Arjen Robben has a habit of going down easy, normally if an opposing player even looks at him he falls down which is why if he was tackled and he stayed on his feet any referee who knows him or of him would definitely think that it was a nothing tackle hence why Howard Webb did not give any foul for that
besides there are clear rules for advantage play and those were followed to the letter of the law - if the player wasnt able to take advantage then he cannot call it back and claim for the free kick just because he felt he didnt get the advantage - because had he scored thereafter then he wouldnt be complaining
anyone claiming bias against the dutch is just a huge case of "Sour Grapes" - in fact i wonder why all the dutch fans are saying nothing at all about Nigel "Bruce Lee" De Jong and his crushing of Xabi Alonso's ribcage
to put the world cup final into perspective
At a restaurant last night, my companion asked me if I wanted to 'go Dutch' on the bill. So I raked my studs down her chest, argued with the waiters, and left in tears.
