ginetto61, do not listen to system7, there is absolutely nothing wrong with soft dome mids and tweeters, assuming correct application, they can sound superb

Hi i think i could live with even the ugliest speaker around as long as the sound is fantastic.
I also listen usually in the dark to avoid visual distractions.
Another option is to listen blindfolded. The difference can be impressive.

To be honest me too. I have some half re-finished speakers hooked up because I missed them and couldn't wait. It was only supposed to be for an hour or two. There still there. Not out of laziness I enjoy DIY projects to the fullest. But man there kinda ugly
I never tried a blind fold but have listening sessions in the dark in the early am when all is quiet also there isnt as much traffic on the hydro grids. In the dark your hearing senses come more in focus. Blind people will say the same thing. A blind piano tuner told me to give that a try the first time. I imagine a dark room and a blindfold will have the same effect. The best listening experiences I remember are just like that. Being well rested and not stressing about anything will only enhance the whole experience further. And perhaps a favorite blend of something or other 😀

Hi Ed !
thanks a lot for the kind advice.
However when i read "soft" i have doubts. If the designers look for stiffness in the cone drivers why we can look for soft in dome drivers ? it makes me no sense at all. 😕
I understand that when diaphragms are soft they tend to deform themselves.
When i read reviews, for instance, of metal drivers they all have a very nice transparency even if there can be some critical ringing.
Instead soft drivers tend to give a nice sound, tone and not fatiguing. Very good for classical for instance.
But also transparent ? 🙄
Thanks again, gino 🙂

Hi again !
just to say that i agree. Listening in the dark with low environmental noise can give good hints about the quality of the system.
Even just lights can distract from the listening (i put little tapes to hide them).
In the best cases the soundstage effect is enhanced and very beautiful.
