I have a Kliq tinytuner pedal, that works great, and has one button that turns on pedal, and disables output. Ideally I would like tuner to always be on, and just have the button to disable output when actually tuning. I haven't opened it up yet, but was wondering if anyone has done this before?
No schematic available, but took it apart, and seems much too digital inside to do much, so think I will just get a ABY pedal, and have it that way.
No need for an ABY pedal (unless you want one for other reasons). All you need is an SPST latching footswitch mounted in a little box with input and output jacks. Wire the switch to short the signal to ground when latched "on".

Built the circuit (https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/best-diy-buffer-pedal.309747/) twice and switch one to ground when tuning the guitar. Having the tuner and the rest of the pedals or amp parrallel lowers the impedance and may reduce your higher frequencies.
