Ok, I am getting parts for my Stryke AV12 project, and I am needing some internal wire. I am using the Parts Express 500-watt amplifier and I need some good internal wire that will help the amplifier keep its tight-fisted control over the woofer cone. I use some 16-gauge wire for my mains that I got at Wal-Mart, and I need something bigger for my sub (which will be getting 10 times as much power). I saw they had some 14-gauge wire there that I could use. It's car stereo stuff so the insulation is pretty thick. Is it all right to use that 14-gauge stuff and still accomplish my aims? My budget is getting tight, so no 8-gauge stuff. I don't think 8-gauge will even fit through the binding posts on the woofer. Thanks for help.
i would not worry too much about cable thickness, you will find that unless you are running the cable over LONG distances such as 20+ metres then just cable slightly thicker than the tinsel leads of the driver will do. i dont know what gauge my wire is but is top of the range jaycar stuff and i cannot tell the difference compared to some that was 1/8 the price and is 3 times longer.
Just get mid to high range diy-store audio cable and it will be fine, that power your using wont even get thin cable warm so dont worry.

Clean & tight bass? Use only solid-core for power as well as signal, better too thick than too thin..😉
what about mains cable
240v and 10A rated(NZ and australia)..i heard its good in wireless world article ,or some electronics mag similar.
