When wiring a complicated multi-deck rotary switch....
....is there an app or program that is of help ?
I usually draw/sketch out my wiring on pencil/paper. But sometimes this too becomes complicated if there are many connections, and/or cross connections.
I'm often amazed when looking at vintage military or test equipt. wiring of switches.

Surely a switch is just a variable connection, so how could anything apart from a simple drawing app help? You still have to decide where the wires go. Paper and pencil might be the quickest method.
We used "wiring assembly drawings", not the schematic. Basically a picture layer by layer. If you can find an old Heath manual, you will see they break it down "attatch a 6 inch brown wire to lug 2 of deck 2" You could do the same.
I have the same problem, I have no clue as to how those switches work and so far hooking up a multimeter hasn't helped either
