I've been asked to add a small box to a mixer, to convert connectors from jack to xlr and add some paralleled outputs. The main out are electronically balanced, on TRS jacks so that's clearcut. But the aux are on TS jack.
Will the attached schematic do ? Or should I rather do it as Rane recommends and only connect 2 to hot and 3 to gnd ?

Don't rely on what the manual says. Many balanced outs are impedance balanced.
Check if the aux jacks have the ring connected to ground or perhaps it's even a impedance balanced out. Use an ordinary Jack-XLR balanced cable.
Measure the resistance between ring & Sleeve. What do You get ?
On the mains connect a RCA cable between Hot & Ground and then between Cold & Ground. Is there sound on both connections ?

You are probably right and I might have to get my hand on that mixer. I've found the service manual of the earlier version of that mixer (it's a Behringer sx3242fx, I've found the sl3242fx manual). In here, it actually shows a somewhat proper balanced line driver on the mains out and impedance balanced outputs on fx/aux outs... with the sl3242 spec sheet also announcing mono jacks unbalanced out.
