Hello guys, I currently have a TPA3116 amp connected to a 14.8v battery pack. Running from the same battery pack I have a Bluetooth receiver module connected to the amp.
As you might imagine this has caused ground loop distortion.
I'm loath to use an audio isolator cable. So I was thinking...
I could use a usb 5v QI phone charger in contact with a QI charging adapter (a flat copper coil that outputs 5v when next to the QI charger). And use that to power the Bluetooth module.
However...would that isolation eliminate the ground loop?

Hi Richie, thanks. I should have mentioned that the QI charger will be powered from the same battery pack as the amp (after being stepped down to 5v). This is a portable boom-box rig.
Review the grounding scheme. You should not have ground loop problems using a bluetooth DAC as source and an amp running from the same battery supply.
Just get an isolated DC-DC converter....

Are those simple wire-in solutions though. The non-isolated ones I acquired have all manner of caps, inductors and SMD resistors around.... And do's/don't in the datasheet regarding wire lengths etc.

Ground loop is via audio ground and power ground. A common problem.
Needs designing into components - in the same way as the LM2596. Or for someone to provide a breakout board.

It's nothing like LM2596.
It only needs a few small external caps; inductors are optional and can just be simple ferrite beads. If that's too much for you to handle, maybe it's time to find another hobby. 🙄
