Hi All,
I'd like to replace the signal and EHT wire in my 63's as over the past year to get them going they've had various donor panels fitted, which has left me with many joined cables.
The cabling within them is quite old with 2 speakers with a 3000 and 7000 serial number.I think I need to stay with a similar size due to fitments?
Do you have any suggestions and names of suppliers of cable?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply,I'll look them up. I was initially wondering what the builders on here use and if it would be compatible? I think the HV can peak at around 10KV but I stand to be corrected on that, the main problem is the O/D size of any replacement wire the existing is 1.5mm including insulation. This of course leaves insulating the solder joints afterwards...

The wire used by Quad is nothing special. No high voltage insulation is required, in the design the air and plastic parts (louvre etc) are the insulators.

You can use any PVC insulated wire with the correct outer diameter (to fit the slots in the louvres). If you feel adventurous it might be nice to upgrade to Cardas litz wire.

I planning to rewire the Quad ESL 63 and wonder what gauge wire is suitable. The stock ones looks like cheap 24 gauge wiring.I was thinking about using silver teflon bare wire then shrink wrap its to avoid any shorts.

silver really ? you are talking about high voltages here. the tiny bit of resistance copper has more then silver is not gone do ANYTHING.. save urself money and just buy the same cheap wire. its complete useless
