I am putting together a design for a car audio upgrade for my Land Cruiser.
I'll need to build a lot of RCA interconnects for it. I'll probably use Switchcraft or Neutrik ends.
I need a wire for a pair from the head unit to DSP and then build 12 interconnects from the DSP to amps.
I am not looking for Litz/Kimber/Cardas/you name it interconnects here. I'm not that guy. Looking for a small diameter wire that would do well in a car environment. Maybe some kind of Mogami or something. Just a nice quiet easily workable smallish wire that will get the job done. Job One will be not draining my wallet un-necessarily!

My recommendation would be some thing like a Belden 2 conductor with a foil shield and a drain wire. If you want, you can make the cables 'directional' (marketing term) by connecting the source end of the foil shield to the RCA shield (or any other ground) and leaving the shield unconnected on the amp end. The center conductors will carry signal and signal shield.
Got a sku number I can look up? I think you are right, some type of twisted pair with a shield. On what you are referring to, the drain wire is common with the foil?
I do not. I used the Belden 8723 but that was 4 conductor which makes it more expensive and probably a bit larger. For a size reference with switchcraft plugs, I've attached a photo of a pair I used on the bench.
You can do a parameter selection/search on the following page. Look up the 8723 and if it's similar to what you want, use this page to find something suitable.
