Winsome Labs Mouse best T-amp?

Is the Winsome Labs Mouse the best T-amp? I was getting set on the Trends TA-10.2 but then I read that the Mouse beats it:

Winsome Labs Mouse Amplifiers Reviews

I'm hoping to power it with batteries and I suppose the 12V input of the Trends would be easier to do that with than the 30V input of the Winsome Labs?

With the Winsome Labs I wouldn't be confined to efficient speakers though.

I have not heard the Winsome Labs Mouse but I do have several TK2050 based amps and none of these even comes close to my Charlize.

If you want to try the TK2050 don't buy one of these expensive boxed things, go for something like this one:

LT-50 TK2050 50W+50W BTL 100W Amplifier board LCM-1 | eBay

And mod it to your liking

Would you mind telling us which 2050 amps you compared to the Charlize? And in what ways you preferred the Charlize?

It would almost seem an apples/oranges comparison with the Charlize being very low power compared to 2050 amps.

Thanks,
Rod

I have a Winsome Mouse and it's a nice amp, well built. Not crazy about the power supply, tho, it seems harsh compared to other PSUs.

Compared to the Virtue Audio amps it's a close match, tho I find the Virtue more enjoyable. Given the choice, I listen to the Virtue One or Two. But power supplies do change the sound of these amps - it's important!

The Charlize and similar 12V T-amps amps sound better to me than the 2050 chipset. If you can get away with the lower voltage, it may be the way to go. The differences are not huge, but you do have to live with them. This IS diyAudio, why not build a kit, like one from 41Hz.com?

Disclaimer: I used to work for Virtue Audio.

That's said by Seth's best man ... and I had a winsome labs. Just suspect that the powersupply was the main reason for this harsh sound. And this regarded I find it also for the US market totally overpriced ...

The virtue two was far better for me than this mouse.

Your suggestion with this small cheap PCP is IMHO as good as it's price. Not more. But which greenhorn should be able to mod this ... ? Cheap is cheap. An input cap pair (apropriate quality) costs you minimum 10 Dollars to begin. Further you have no vol. pot on board. Speaker relay protection ?

I would not buy a winsome labs mouse but a virtueaudio amp is giving you indeed real value for money regarding design and sound.
Of course if you don't want to go the DIY way.
I would strongly recommend for the DIY people the hifimediy T1 or T2 for real power. Though these cannot hold with powerful solid states in bass performance (forget here the TA2020 and TA2024) they give you a smooth character back usually known from tube amps.

The TA2020 I find also most audiophile sounding Tripath chip till now but you really have to match it with very highsensitive speakers or listen just low level.
Here the T1 or T2 I would classify between a solidstate and the weaker (O.K. maybe smoother) Tripath chips.
