I want to make an imaginary and virtual toast together with all those people like me who don't want to give up in the face of the many problems that one encounters when one dedicates oneself to study and design in the audio field. when you start you are amazed because you discover an unexplored world then as you delve deeper into the topic many problems arise and you have to work hard to understand how to solve them. These difficulties are precisely the beauty of life because they encourage the brain to come up with a solution.
so cheers

So like life then. Only a lonely fool lives without compromise..Much of audio design is choosing your compromises
Hi Steven, sorry if I think that @planet10 meant something else: the choice of a compromise, given the fact that compromises necessarily exist.
In other words, to do anything you are faced with at least two compromises.
Choosing one compromise over the other one is your choice.
On this forum, your choice will shape your sound.
Just my 2 cents. 😉

Not sure
Basic straight forward
12" poly cone, with rubber surround
2 ports
All it takes to make bass is =
Cone Area
Listened to Police Synchronicity II
Drummer Stewart Copeland hits the snare
like a madman but its laid back in the mix.
Sounds great.
Hits the toms coming out of the chorus.
Woofers actually had enough detail.
That is when volume rolled up more to check again
Boom boom
yep, all good.
Sound can be easy.

True, but there comes a point where you have to compromise on the SQ because of space, money, WAF and because ultimately nothing can reproduce recorded music like live music. Because recorded music is just that.the choice of a compromise, given the fact that compromises necessarily exist
This doesn't seem so much different to life. In both cases failure to compromise leads to unhappiness.
I used to think there was a true sound. Something that could be achieved through money & effort. Now, all I care about is that when I listen to music it stirs emotions and pleases me. I'm a happier person for it.
I do DIYA because I enjoy building things and there's nothing quite like the first time you play music through a new amp..
I too would like to raise a glass to all those knowledgeable and experienced people who give their designs and time to the rest of us. My life is better because of you...
I knew your reply would be as profound as always and I thank you for being so even now.
Talking about choices, I believe that as long as you have two choices to choose from then you can avoid unhappiness, since unhappiness itself, at the end of the day, is also a choice.
It's not that the compromises change, what changes is your intransigence.
Over time your intransigence increases on theoretical things and decreases on practical ones.
And becoming less intransigent means becoming wiser, that's happier or less unhappy (this is also another choice).
If you no longer have a choice you have two possibilities: either be totally unhappy or be totally happy.
And once again a choice was magically created...
