Microsoft have a habit of creating things then after a while abandoning them leaving people high and dry.

I wrote some software using C++ and windows forms in 2010. In 2013 they stopped supporting it as a new project. I found I could still get my code to run but Visual Studio didn't link menus to code any more to make editing easy.

I also wrote a 3d program using XNA. In around 2013 Microsoft decided it was no longer going to support it. So my efforts in writing it were a waste of time and effort.
Luckily I found another company who did support it and I managed to make some changes to it.

Microsoft made some changes to flash for security purposes. Two of my programs stopped working completely.

I am not sure why you are asking here rather than microsoft! 🙂 but:

The theory seems to be that the PC hardware which was used to run and register W10 now has its ID locked into usoft's authentication servers.

So it should be possible to backstep then re-upgrade after July 29th. Caveat (big b****y emptor!)

Do not trust this on your only platform

My several PCs are all imaged as W7, upgraded then re-imaged as W10.

EDIT: because this is W10 thread!! My bad!

Big W10 update (actually an upgrade) coming on Tuesday. This will be a circa 3Gb download that upgrades the OS to the so called 'Anniversary Edition'. It will be interesting to see how that goes... I expect a lot will use the opportunity to clean install again.

If you are running Pro or Enterprise versions now, then you can 'defer' the upgrade although you can't stop it.

That means will have to re-install or re-authenticate Adobe and TINA.

Not sure on that. Only last Sunday I tried an upgrade install of the current public version of W10 to the latest 'fast ring' insider build (which just so happens to be the same as the anniversary update).

Everything seemed to work as expected and all programs and settings were carried over OK. Just a few Windows settings that reverted to defaults (folder views etc)

Whoopeeee ! The "update" is the same size as my (whole) windows 7 - 64
installation and a gig bigger than my Linux mint (I dual boot).

What a scam ! Now Windows 10 Anniversary Update stops Pro users from disabling annoying features and blocking ads

..... it is a perfect POS "adware".
(subscription is next starting with enterprise - just like I predicted)

Y'all should really try Linux mint 17.3.

It -
1. Looks/feels , works like , and slightly outperforms W7-64
2. Does a touchscreen like 10.
3 . Mounts all your present NTFS windows harddrives.
4. Will play any movie , audio file / open any filetype natively.

Using it (mint) now with Firefox , 125MB OS memory usage / 235MB for FF !!!
Truly the best upgrade option after Win7.

Many are seeing the $WINDOWS.~BT and Windows.~WS (hidden folders) that will contain the required files appearing for the upgrade now appearing on the root of the C drive in preparation for the roll out on Aug 2nd.

I have used the 'defer upgrade option' that's available on W10 pro until I see how it pans out. In fact I'll probably take the opportunity to clean install from the .iso file that should be available by then.

The only present OS options now are a pirated (beheaded) W7-64 and the Mint 17.3.
I use the heck out of both. ZERO update/ crash / use issues with either.

I had W10 installed for 3 weeks. Absolutely no added functionality , lots of bugs.
My biggest $$ maker is putting that W7-64 (4G install) back on 2014 (newer)
laptops and gaming systems. Most are astounded by the W7 responsiveness (as
compared to W10 ..what a dog !!). Nearly double the speed at half the resources.

Mint is 4X , BTW.

DX12 = the only W10 "apple". Luckily... "Vulken" video API will become the new
"thing" ... screw M$. Most games are happy with DX11-W7 (at present).

Can anyone confirm this behaviour of Edge/diyAudio

A real puzzler that seems real, and its reproducible across my two PC's (one running 10 pro 64 bit, the other 32 bit home).

I'm having problems copy and pasting text or simply highlighting a word on posts on our beloved site 😀 It gets much more bizarre though.

Any word in that first sentence cause the issue. Words in the later sentence do not. Yesterday, the sentences that had the issue were different than those that cause the problem today.

If I log out of diyAudio and access the site as a non registered user then the problem disappears. Log back in and it reappears. Many posts are fine, but then you find one that has this issue, and its actually quite a lot that do this. My second laptop is doing the same, and its the same posts and same words and sentences that cause the issue.

I haven't found the problem on any other site as yet. Lol, go figure!

Edit... both PC's are running clean installs of the latest 'Anniversary Update' build of W10.
