I'm assuming you have the scan software installed that were supplies with the device (drivers etc).

Have you tried looking in 'all programs' in the start menu to see if its there (look for the scanner manufacturer name) and if so right click and create a shortcut for it.

W7 paint is cool , it 's not PSP or Corel .... but is well integrated with
any installed TWAIN scanner. I've used it..
W7 "mspaint.exe" is 6.5MB and has about 10MB of associated .DLL's
Not too bad , uses 10MB + the image (in memory).

Hah ! Fresh paint for W8/10 looks like a kid's toy ... Old PSP7 has 10X
the features and is 10 years old (still works on W7/8).

Then there is "portability" - you can move the PSP7 folder to another
HDD , tell the program to re-associate all the image file types - it works!
Just 32 megs of pure performance , not dependent on .NET or other B$.

Leave the real work to 3'rd party programs , M$ included apps are "fluff".

Edit-
W7 paint uses 9.5MB + 10MB showing an autumn landscape JPEG
PSP7 did 14MB + only 2MB for the same rendering.
Many images in PSP were still under 50MB while M$paint bloated to
>200MB !!!
HAH ! PSP7.02 is year 2001 , but light years ahead of
2010 M$ paint ... where is the "innovation" , Microsoft ??? OMG.

The latest November update for Windows 10 re-enables all the spy settings. It's basically a new installation. Windows update will download about 3 GB, and then upgrade the system to v. 1511.

After the upgrade, all settings are set back to default. So Windows will start sending information back to daddy Microsoft again. The update also includes advertising in the start menu, but that can be disabled. At least at the moment it can. You never know how long that will last.

Just a little info, in case people didn't notice the changes. 🙂

^ any links on your sources and/or guides to fix "spy" settings?

NOTE
Paint is reorganized at Start under ALL APPS > Windows Accessories > Paint
here you'll also have access to the old browser called 'Explorer' just in case ''The Edge' isn't your only choice from upgraded installs

The source is personal experience. I work as an IT supporter. I've seen computers revert to default settings after upgrade to v.1511. They all do it.

And the guides are the same as used before. It was simply meant as information to people who believe that they have the settings set. After the update, those settings are no longer what you chose earlier.

yes an upgrade to vers. 1511 is a brand new OS install (not an update) so yeah it pretty much starts from scratch again. so no surprise old settings aren't remembered.

NOTE to find out your installed build
type "winvers" without quotes in Run dialog box under Windows

Just thought its worth adding this,

1. Check that you have WFP driver enabled: go to Adguard's network settings and check "Use WFP driver" option.
2. Check browsers section, if Edge is there
3. To manually add it find and add "MicrosoftEdge.exe" and "MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe" files.

Then reboot..

I bought a 12 month licence £10.00..but I want to use Edge..It will sort it while MS get their act togeather..if that's humanly possible..
Works quite well there is a trial test period..

I really can not understand why everyone is so "gungho" on upgrading.

W10 is UGLY !! It literately offends the eyes.
It is the same core as W7.

W7/8/10 are all bloatware out of the box. W8/10 goes into a hybrid hibernation
to increase boot performance.
There is no real performance improvement over a W7 "best performance"
profile.
For gamers , I guess the DX12 "carrot" might cause some to migrate.
Even this is B$ , AMD mantle and even Nvidia are going to diverge
from Microsoft's DX regime. M$ sort of stole parts of "mantle" for DX12.
Whole W8/10 -DX12 debacle is just a ploy by Satya Nadella to turn
our PC's into revenue generating AD machines.

PS - having more parts of Windows in constant communication will
also widen the security flaws ... needing even more updates , patches,
blockers. Imagine if Cortana gets exploited and starts cursing you😀 .
