If I install Windows 10 do I loose all my personal files like pictures, documents and some of the software was uploaded on my Windows 7. I think yes but I do want to hear other people opinion about that.
I do like Windows 7 what I get with the machine 3 years a go when I purchased.
Does Window 10 will be better than 7, if I'm satisfied with the performance of W7 do you think it worth to try out the 10 even do I have to save all my personal document on a disc or USB stick.
Greetings

Again I ask, just out of curiosity, how exactly will W10 improve our daily lives? Now, Cialis for Women, I could understand
years ago 'we' used be hot on backing-up data and given that storage IS cheap now, it makes sense to run a C: drive and a D: etc drive/s to store data on...... 1tb drives in nice twee caddies for less than the price of an audiophool copper in virgin thigh skin cap.If I install Windows 10 do I loose all my personal files like pictures, documents and some of the software was uploaded on my Windows 7. Personal files remain when you upgrade. Many programs will work OK and carry over in the upgrade but there are bound to be many others that don't, in particular things like older printer software and drivers.

Any install has to be clean for me, inplace upgrades carry over many problems in my experience.

OK, I'm as much a fan of obscure Brit humor as the next heathen, but you've got me flummoxed there, chum
The only touch screen devices I currently operate are iPad and iPhone, and for the applications to which I put them, the current IOS is sufficient. At the risk of blasphemy, a tablet ain't a "computer", and I posit that an OS intended to bridge multi-platforms could be ultimately unsatisfactory, or at the least, confusing to all
wasn't quaalude Bill's go to guaranteed happy time pill? Of course, I'm still inclined to want my life-time partner alert - if for no other reason than to provide "guidance" ...Cialis for woman = cocain.

The two of you agree, then. 😀

Just downloaded Windows 10 32 bit onto my second hard drive.
Installed easy enough.
Back to square one now not being able to find anything !

Currently upgrading my work servers to Server 2012 / Exchange 2013. I dont think my little brain could deal with any more illogical Microsoft BS right now. ...i could literally rant for hours.
I have used Windows 8 since it came out, now on 8.1
I have had to reinstall it a few times when things have gone wrong.
It did seem to settle down after a while.
Recently it started playing up again but a restore fixed it.
Now it has started having a big delay between starting and the desktop icons appearing.
There are good well documented reasons for this;

and therefore good reason to change to entirely free software

There are many operating systems that contain some proprietary code
but are otherwise excellent and what you would term as direct replacements
away from the poor performing software you use,
Try Linux Mint Main Page - Linux Mint
or one of the 281 active operating systems here DistroWatch.com: Put the fun back into computing. Use Linux, BSD.
once you have one of these installed let us know how it compares
and Linux Mint would be the easiest to do this with. A typical
install will take about 15 minutes

It will in a Windows VM. 🙂
Seriously. Use Linux as your main OS and just run whatever flavour of Windows you need/want in a VM to do your Windows software dev/testing.
VirtualBox is free. After installing Linux, just do:
wget -q https://www.virtualbox.org/download/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install virtualbox-5.0

Tip: Do your online banking, and anything else that requires even a modicum of security and/or stability, with the main Linux install. 🙂

OK, M$ has gotten the last laugh so far......I set up a dedicated machine for M$ to kill with W10. I clicked the icon to accept the W10 update on that machine, left it on and took the grandkids to the pool, Dairy Queen, and the county fair. I was gone all day. MS did not take the bait.
I have an ASUS laptop with W8.1 that has been possessed with demons since day one. It will randomly do things by itself, reboot, crash and even play videos by itself without warning. The touchpad was poorly mounted when the computer was built, such that either pad will randomly press itself when the machine is handled. Sometimes it is so sensitive that vibrations from the internal speakers will set it off. Using it in a car is impossible. ASUS wants a fee to determine if it is repairable and to provide an estimate, so it remains a frustration. ASUS has joined HP on my list of companies that I will no purchase from......Both because of bad laptops and POOR customer service.
So, this morning I was reading a forum post in the tubes forum when the UPS man brings me a box from Parts Express. I put down the laptop and open the box....the grandkids call, so I left sometime around 10AM. I came home around 6 PM, and settled in front of the TV at about 9 PM and picked up the laptop......SURPRISE!!!!!!!
It is no longer a W8.1 laptop. It has W10. What happened to choose the time you want to install, upgrade or clean install, make yourself an ISO image, or any of the other choices offered on the FAQ page???? Who made those choices for me???? I expressly accepted the upgrade ONLY on the sacrificial computer which still has W7. Did that give MS cart blanche to upgrade the 6 other Windows PC's in this house that use the same email and IP address???? They all got their Ethernet cables pulled after I found W10 on this laptop. All still have W7 or W8.1, only the laptop got 10ed.
So, I now have a W10 laptop. So far.....no big deal, it looks a lot like the 8.1 version. I never used the screen full of the stupid tiles, so I don't care if they rearranged it. The other screen still looks the same..........
The "new" web browser looks like the old browser with a new name.
So far it hasn't caused me to use bad language yet.

I consider myself very lucky to have never installed W8 on any PC...
In my case, if MS stops support on W7 it will be over for any Microsoft platform for me...

That's why I always object the use of proprietry frameworks like the MS-stuff... They almost make it impossible to port software to another platform and/or programming language.

I have used my W10 laptop for several hours including a forum post or two this morning. I have a couple of observations.
I made a comment about the new web browser looking a lot like the old web browser last night. It WAS the old web browser since my machine had never been rebooted or powered off since it was "updated." After sleeping overnight last night it was a different machine in the morning......kinda like that girl you picked up in....oh nevermind.
The new browser IS different and as stated they moved things around so you need to figure out where they hid them....like my favorites. They aren't behind the yellow star anymore. They are under the three horizontal lines next to the star.
When I "upgraded" a machine from W7 to W8 (I have only done this once, and I put it back to 7 after a few days) it took me about a day to figure out how to turn the damn thing off.
OK, that annoying black toolbar that appears whenever the mouse pointer gets too close to the right side of the screen is GONE! That alone removes a lot of frustration with the laptop......so how do you turn the W10 machine off.....OH, you use the power button in the start menu, what a novel idea, lets put something back where it has been since W95!
My webmail program doesn't translate correctly into the built in mail app, but it never did in W8 or W8.1. I just open it in a web browser where it works fine.
The random operation of the right click button is still there causing those annoying adverts in the forum to start all by themselves. I didn't think W10 would fix busted hardware, and I was right.
I ran through several of my often used programs and it seems that everything still works, with the possible exception of my 2003 vintage copy of MS office. Clicking on office brings up a "trial" version of the latest flavor.....no thanks, I want my old stuff. It's free. I remember dealing with this when I installed it under W8. I think I had to uninstall the new stuff, then reinstall the 2003 version.
I forgot to try my 1995 vintage copy of Nikon View. I use it for all the pictures I post. It was discontinued when XP came out because it was not compatible. It works fine on XP, but has issues with Vista, W7 and W8. It will start up OK, but will not close....OK, I just leave it there until I power off.

Yesterday I installed W10 on my backup drive and had no problems.
It seemed to work ok so I tried t oinstall w10 on my main drive.
Tried 3 times and it crashed out each time.
Turned out w10 doesnt like the MBR (master booot record?) and only works with an EFI (what ever that is)
So had to remove partitions from my hard drive, format my drive and start clean.
FInally got it installed but now i have to put back all the programs I lost.
Its taken 3 hours so far and still not finished.

I just started Youtube on a W7 machine and this video popped up on my play list. It disappeared after I watched it. Searching revealed a different version with zero views. Interesting
