Is there any advantage in using R-Cores? And where can one get the blanks (other than unwinding an existing one)? ( I am new at this, so please excuse it if it is a dumb question )

i have seen these types but have yet to dismantle one, if they are like cut C cores, then is is possible....as for sources of cores, i have yet to find one...
