Looks like mainly Scanspeak-based drivers (all paper based) and a silk dome.
What do you think?
Personally I like the look and the effort towards time-alignment.
The 2 ohm impedance at 80Hz is a major concern as is the stratospheric price.

The Wilsons I've seen measurements for all exhibited a 'smiley face' frequency response
ie overemphasized bass and treble with scooped mids.
And their prices are ridiculous.

I liked the original 3 series watt/puppy - everything after that has gotten progressively worse aesthetically IMO.
-oh, I do like that copper paint though.
These things look like they should be levitating and chasing after Dr. Who.
..I did like the midbass tone of the focal polyglass woofers in the SLAAM though. I also like the wide dispersion pattern of the focal tweeter on later watts and the Sasha (..though not it's "aggressive" tendencies).

Price is OK for new HiEnd but I would bet on Maggies 20.1 instead.
BTW MBL or German Physics a way more expensive items.
Never owned MBL but the guy who upgraded from Maggies to MBL claimed MBL even better.

Exterminate! Exterminate!

Doesn't the smiley-curve relate to the Fletcher-munson-curve and are "the way it should be"?
Only if you always play them at the same predefined volume.
I'd hate having a specific loudness contour built into my speakers with no option to change. That's what by-passable eqs are there for if you really need that.

YES!
That's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw them. 😀
You'd think for 45 grand he could afford a larger radius router bit for those edges.
Almost identical paint to the set I am listening to now. ( DuPont Centari) Dayton/Seas and no, they did not cost more than my car.
I have only heard the old Watt/Puppy and nothing has changed my mind that they sell a name, not hi-fi.
Oh, "time aligned" well you need to see the crossover and measure to know. Offset does not mean aligned, and if not coaxial, you can only align for a single listening point within an inch or so.

The Darliks........

A cross between a garbage can and a Dalek.😀

At least they're starting to worry about diffraction....
Maybe the 100k model has proper baffle termination?
Also, there's no reason the mid and tweet need to be as far apart, if your design philosophy is what theirs appears to be. Scan Speak offers several high performing small flange domes, and you really don't need a separate enclosure externally, it can be done inside the box with better CTC spacing.

Yes- SS for the woofers, revelator series paper.
Satori for the mid.
Tweeter looks like a Wavecor to me.

The midrange is definitely not an SB Acoustics. That basket is an older VIFA that is now used by Scan Speak for the Discovery range. The cone could be sourced from SB though.
It looks like it has papyrus fibers in it and SB is the only company that can call that cone material papyrus. SEAS for example uses the name "Reed Cone".

I could never understand the prices for what have always been basically stock drivers that seem to have nothing to do with the final cost of the finished enclosures. I would bet they spend more money on the cabinets and finish than the drivers themselves. I am glad to hear that they are not using the horrible Focal tweeters, always have sounded bad in the upper frequencies with terrible ringing of the titanium material. For the money I could think of better things to do with it. Since the time I have heard about Wilson it has always been that they supposedly have had great passive crossover designs. I think that in this day we can do much better with active crossovers. I would like to see the soft dome silk tweeter that can actually come close to the published upper frequency response with anything like a flat frequency response curve. At least they aren't $100k in price, not until the economy get a little better.....😀
The tweeter must be a variety of this :http://www.scan-speak.dk/datasheet/pdf/d3004-662000.pdf
I measured them and also Dipl.Ing. Bernd Timmermanns and the measurements are very close to the published data.
They are really very flat and low distortion. I can look up the measurements and publish them when i find them. In my book also a huge improvement over the Focals.
By the way, the cabinet in a high end speaker always eats up most of the money, plus marketing to keep the brand in business. For a DIY builder this is hard to understand.
You can make a good living from High End Audio but i know only very few people that actually got rich. One of them must be the top monster Noel Lee.
If you want to go into the cable business i would not recommend that ether. The market is simply too crowded.
