its cheap and easy to use but it doesnt say how bright in ansi or lumens

I was also think of use a different setup how about a dukane 4003 stripped of light source and build a projecotr of of that the bulbs are cheap and the light is rated at 4000 lumens at

ill doing measuring and other stuff to find one that best suits me

but on problem i ran into is that i was going to use my sharp qa 2500 in this project, i was think of not stripping it because it is already made to be used on an overhead, I just trying to take a safe route so i dont screw up my panel

I think it doesn't say how bright it is because it does not include a lamp! It says it can use up to a 250 Watt, but that's all!

Since ballasts tend to work with one specific type of lamp, I wonder if it even includes a ballast?

So all you get is a reflector that is designed for an aquarium, not for a projector. BTW, beware of "reef lamps": They are usually 10,000 K color which is much too blue for projection. You need 5000 to 6000 K.
 
Just for interest i'm using a 10k 400w metal halide lamp and the picture looks great. The colours look a tiny bit dark but its shining onto a painted wall which doesn't help. Once i've adjusted the gamma in windows there's a very even balance. I'll get some shots up soon - just got pefect corner to corner focus after a bit of tweeking.
