Will this OHP be suitable (worried about the corners)

Im looking at getting this OHP:

However im worried about the dimensions:
L and W of the glass pannel = 28.5cm = about 16" diagonal
However the corner pieces are 4.5cm long in each direction.
This means its gona cut the corners of my image off: is there any way to get around this? eg can i shrink the image on the screen by 2.75" so that none of the pic is over the corners?

also what are the hight/width dimensions of a 15" LCD if anyone has them as I dont believe they are equal are they? (eg its a rectangle not a square) (i tried googling this but had no luck)

thx for any advice,
Jono

hmm this is a mega pain lol
I wonder how others have got around it (ive searched for forum with no success).
It would be ok if u could resize the image on the LCD to 2" or so smaller than the pannel, but I believe i have read tha u cant resize the image on LCD pannels?

thx for the dimensions, most OHPs have a window of 28.5 x 28.5cm, so 12" (about 30cm) is gona leave the LCD pannel hangign over 1 side by 1.5cm anyway, this with the corners being covered also will be crap lol.

Yes, I understand completely.

I am getting ready to do one of these also and have been wondering how to get rid of those corners. The one on tomshardware left them in.

Regarding the glass size, the common stage apertures I have seen are 10.5" square and 11.25" square, with 10.5 being MUCH more common. You will want to check that particular model you are buying.

A 14" panel would have dimensions of 11.2" x 8.4". So, I plan to get a 14" panel with a 11.25 aperture OHP. The corners will still get shaved off a bit.

You don't want to resize. You'll lose resolution.

icic, but I think I will have to resize as i have already got a 15" lcd on the way 😛, and the chances of getting an OHP without the corner peeces, or larger than 28.5cm L and W are slim.

I did find a good program for shrinking btw:

Incase u do need to shrink it like me.
I know im gona loose resolution, but i dont really have a choice. It shouldnt be to bad tho if i keep it to 3:4 still.

lol ok well didnt get much help this time 😛, and decided to go put on a limb.

I purchased this OHP for $40AU + post ($30AU)

The same model from the same person with the same specs sold last week for $102AU 😛, so im not 2 upset lol

The seller replied to my Q about dimensions saying its approx 30cm by 30cm (the window) so that would be sweet if it is, and the corner pieces are: the front = 4.5cm wide, the back = 3.4cm wide.

I pulled the fresnel out of my OHP and it is 11.5 x 11.5. However the OHP only allows 11.25" x11.25" to show through. I was thinking of trimming it back. The top of my OHP comes off with 2 screws (its off now) and its just plastic. Shouldn't be too big a deal...I hope. Still it will cut of a little bit of the LCD, but the OHP is just temporay until I can convince my wife this really is cool. 😀
