Will the Topping E30 DAC play music files from a USB flash drive? It has a USB b type connection on rear same as is often used on printers.
I'm trying find the simplest way to play my music files through it, most of mine are wma or mp3.

No, it won't play directly from a USB flash drive. If you want to use the USB connection, it needs to be fed by something that incorporates a player e.g. a computer running audio player software, or a Digital Audio Player (DAP).
You may be able to connect your (android) phone or tablet to it using an OTG cable connected to the supplied USB cable, not sure about Apple product connections as I've never used them. If it's a permanent solution you're after and you don't want to have PC noise (whirring fans etc) a lot of people use a Raspberry Pi with software such as Volumio as a streamer.

Thankyou much appreciated. I find a PC a bit cumbersome in my lounge I haven't seen many good budget friendly DAPs that are desktop versions the ones I have seen are portables.
I know where you're coming from with regard to a PC in the living room.
In the past I've used a Raspberry Pi with an optical output board, here's just one example, there are many. I've also used a Chromecast Audio, again you can output from this with an optical cable. These are discontinued now, but you may be able to still pick one up used. You would still need a phone or tablet to control playback though for either solution. I used an old tablet on a dedicated stand and left it permanently hooked up.

I use a raspberry pi with allo digital DigiOne spdif hat. I use it with Roon, but there are several nice players out there to use. I would suggest diet-pi for operating system as it is very simple, robust and offers several players. Almost a turnkey setup.
I have a yamaha wxad10 wifi dac but think the E30 with a Raspberry pi is a better way to go, the set up looks more complex than for the wxad10. I am not sure how to do it.
It’s pretty straightforward. Need a pc or laptop, helps to have a switch or router to plug into. Easy for me though I suppose but it really is pretty straightforward. Look at diet-pi DietPi - Lightweight justice for your SBC!
A Raspberry Pi with Volumio will do that without a "hat". Plug the USB drive in, plug the usb cable from the E30 in. The Volumio menus will then show options for both. The only issue is that the drive may need separate power. The E30 will definitely need separate power.
A Raspberry Pi is tiny, smaller than a deck of cards. You can control Volumio from your phone or tablet or any browser.
I use a Pi with Volumio and an E30 for my main system and am very happy with it, but I don't use a drive. I'm streaming from Qobuz running on one of my Macs and then over DLNA/UPnP to the Pi on my wifi. It just works, no problems at all.
