Probably not. They're quite different tubes.
So ,no chance it will work?
I got a nice ,simple preamp from my friend. The tubes are missing. It were ECC88 (is E88CC the same or is it diffrent).
All I have at hand are two 6H6P tubes.

Hi,
No...
The good news is that you should be able to get plenty of ECC88 or the former USSR equivalent in Poland at reasonable cost.
Cheers,😉

Hi,
Isn't that a ECC89/6FC7?
If so it isn't directly exchangeable as it has a different pinout for starters.
Cheers,😉
6N24P is pretty hard to get...

oops, i guess my memory is off. i couldnt remember if it was 6N23P or 6N24P at the time i posted 😱
It may be worth trying
These tubes are not a perfect match but they are not far off.
See attached data sheets.

The pinout is the same and most properties are close.

Thanks a lot for all these advices.
Do you think I can swap them in,just to see if they work at all?
I spoke to Russian guy that sells tubes and he doesn't have 6H23P for now.Maybe in a couple of weeks ,he said.

I'd be tempted to try it out - in a preamp with no feedback it's unlikely to go unstable. The heater draw is greater (.75 not .3), however, so if you leave them in check the mains transformer isn't hot. From all accounts the 6N6 is a better sound than a stock ECC88, so if all goes well you may be pleased. Certainly worth a quick listen.
Or if you wanted it to be more permanent...youcould go for a seperate filament transformer...preferably hidden under the chassis...so you dun have extra trafos sticking out...

- Will russian 6H6P tube work instead of E88CC?
