Assuming a properly aligned and focused laser (in this case for a CDM1 Mk.II transport), would switching from one cap type to another on the servo board 'lytics change the sound?
This is related to your other thread isn't it,

The answer is, no they won't affect sound quality.
Sometimes when mods are done and components replaced your expectations are sky high and it can all be an anti climax when you finally listen.
I didn't post on your other thread but as you are asking again 🙂 my feeling is that ultimately nothing sound wise has really changed... it's more to do with expectations and you wishing for a "dramatic" change in the sound in some unexplained way... which there isn't... and so you wonder whether it is even as good as it was before, and that leaves you unable to just listen and enjoy it.
I've fallen into the same trap myself in the past.

Thanks Mooly. I wondered if it was appropriate to post in this forum because I did have the other thread already, but thought maybe more "parts knowledgeable" members would be here rather than there. My apologies if I should have stayed in one place.
I had to have this work done simply because of the problems I was having, and was not looking at it as a mod. Quite the contrary the last thing I wanted to do was change the sound of my transport. Assuming that when I could initialize a disc, the servo board was then able to do its job properly (and really have no effect on the sound), then I was hoping the repair would simply return the servo tracking to its original spec.
I'm not wishing for "any" change. 😉 However, I have an alternate source in my system with which I'm very familiar - and which I know in comparison to my transport quite well - and on first listening to the returned transport I started scratching my head. Hopefully it's all in my head.
