Hi,
The PC that I have earmarked to install the AP-500 SW on is fanless and compact (it ran the 2722 SW merrily, without problems). It seems to install the SW ok and asks me to restart after doing so, but when I click on the desktop icon the SW doesn't launch... It sort of pauses, but nothing launches.
I installed the SW successfully on another PC, but that is a large and bulky PC that I use for other duties. On the other (Win 10) machine, there seemed to be another step when installing the SW, where it asked me to ok what I presume was a driver. I am thinking that this step didn't happen on the fanless one...which is why I am having the problem...
Spec for fanless PC as follows:
Editiion: Win 10 Pro
Version: 2009
Installed July 2023
OS Build 19045.5737
I was hoping to grab the driver on its own, but it would appear that the 500 SW comes as one package and they don't offer discrete drivers...
Any help gladly appreciated. Before this saga I was thinking that the AP method of having a host PC was superior to that of the R+S AAs that I've been using for many years (less to go wrong and you can update the PC), but I am missing the R+S option of hitting one button and being able to work at this point!
TIA.

Hello,
I use APx-500 software on Lenovo ThinkCentre M900 Mini PC with Win 10.
No problems at all.
Best regards!

Thanks. The mini-PC I am using here is very similar: it's a ThinkCentre with an i5 processor. It's not SotA, but up until now, I have never been under the impression that an AA needed a high-performance host PC.
The 'big' PC that I have installed the AP500 SW on works fine in demo mode, without ever having a USB connection to the AA itself. The mini-PC has been connected to the AA via the AP USB lead (I got that desperate - AP's manual tells you to use their USB cable), but I can't even get it to open in demo mode, let alone acknowledge that I have a lump of hardware on the end of the USB cable.

I would assume that considering the price of this software AP should be able to help you with such question directly.

AP support sent me this (attached). This is my issue. Am thinking about installing Win-7 on the machine, as it's a workshop one and I don't access email / files on it (SW is sluggish and prone to stiffing on my CAD PC...let alone mini one intended for this... How did R+S ever get by with a P3 processor and 20G HD?).
Are you sure about that, Jan? You need a subscription to access any AP software for the 500-series... If you buy just the machine, you get the latest SW and that's it (which they gave me with machine, on a USB stick).
Thanks

Thanks. TBH, the AP SW runs like a dog on my massive desktop / CAD PC, and with the steps involved in fixing it with my mini-PC, I am wondering if it might just make more sense to install win-7 on mini-PC and do it that way. Win-10 runs way slower whenever I've changed win-7 over. If the AP will run well on Win-7, maybe that's the way to go. At least AP got back to me quickly. That's about the most positive thing I can say about the experience at this point...
Ahh yes, my experience is with SYS2722 and ATS2. All software for those is still free, but yes -500 is subscription. Are you sure about that, Jan? You need a subscription to access any AP software for the 500-series
Sorry,
