Thank you. I also edited the page on capacitors a bit, but I'll do more later if someone doesn't finish my work.

I Just expanded the Diodes section. I'm assuming this is okay since very little work has been done on the wiki.
Is there a place I can store files to put up on the wiki that we can rely on to keep them up?

Thanks for the updates. There will be a healthy new mediawiki based wiki when we launch the new site, and all your wonderful work will be in there 🙂
Nice. 🙂
I've already done a decent amount since your post. I would encourage those interested to scout out my mistakes. 😛

Just added a page on CCSs. Needs a bit more content, and I'll add a bit more in just a moment. I would appreciate feedback on my work. Also, I'm happy to contribute more, but I don't want to be the only one...
🙁
Not all of the pages I've edited are complete, as I'm focusing on quantity more than quality here (although I am happy about the quality), which I think will help others get interested in throwing in their own 2C. So if anyone sees something that can be changed for the better, go ahead. I'll be looking at the recentchanges page whenever I decide to edit something and look over anything new I see.

Hi All,
First I have to admit that this is my first visit to this thread - I've looked at the wiki a few times but not often - maybe it's me, maybe the content isn't compelling enough, maybe not enough contributors - I don't know why the low number of entries?
Perhaps the new Forum structure will improve the Wiki use because I imagine it could be a really excellent reference source! As there is a lot of really top class information on this site but it's buried in often long convoluted threads, I wonder could a facility be developed that would allow a thread post to be easily converted to a wiki entry, thereby extracting the important info from a thread?
Anyway, my main point in posting was to consider a new topic in the wiki - "Health & Safety". I'm sure there are a lot of sub-topics that could be posted but one that is currently relevant to me is "How to avoid Back Issues at the Workbench". There seems to be a high percentage of back sufferers among the members here (I count myself among this number) & I wondered if a pooling of knowledge in how to avoid this health issue might be of interest?
Let's see what responses, if any, this attracts!

I think it is a great idea!
One must know when to open the window and let out the fumes. When we get a new Wiki system and things are easier perhaps there will be more people interested in contributing. I expect to add some material.

With quality information, interest in the Wiki will grow and I believe more will desire to contribute.
Purity and ease of information was my aim while I contributed those articles.
I have not added any more since my last posts here, but I aim to in the future.
I aim specifically to expand the basics section, as there is so much to the basics that if understood properly will result in good solid design.
I want the basics section to be complete, as in theory of operation for each basic component and real-world pointers. I want good grammar as well, but some errors can't be avoided.
I guess so. I was planning on waiting for the new wiki system before I added anything, however.

Wiki Re-Org
Hey Guys,
I love that this site has a wiki but I'm having trouble getting excited about the content. Here are the issues that I see:
Can I suggest the following format for the Front_Page (and it's subsequent sub-pages):
The keen observer will note that this closely matches the layout of the forum categories.
Also, I'm going to suggest that the default template for pages include the TOC tags at the top. That way, people are incented to use them and header tags in their articles.
Thoughts?
Hey Guys,
I love that this site has a wiki but I'm having trouble getting excited about the content. Here are the issues that I see:
- Front page doesn't link to a lot of content
- Much of the content is not browseable from the first three levels of the wiki hierarchy
- Most wiki pages don't include a TOC
- Most wiki pages don't include header tags
Can I suggest the following format for the Front_Page (and it's subsequent sub-pages):
- Welcome
- Using the Wiki
- Editting Guide
- SandBox
- OldWiki
- General Topics
- diy Safety
- Glossary of Terms
- Electronics
- Getting Started
- Back to the Basics (of Electronics)
- Tips and Techniques
- Tools and Equipment
- Amplifiers
- Solid State
- Pass Labs
- Tubes/Valves
- Chip Amps
- Class D
- Power Supplies
- Source and Line
- Analog & Analog Line Level
- Digital & Digital Line Level
- PC Based
- Blue Prints (list of projects available for build by members)
- Getting Started
- LoudSpeakers
- Getting Started
- Types of Speakers
- Listening Rooms
- How Speakers Work
- Others I've not yet thought of
- Tips and Techniques (construction techniques, etc)
- Tools and Equipment
- Articles; just a links page; we can organize them more throroughly as we get more content)
- Loudspeaker Projects/Blue Prints (split into 3 sections. mutli, full, subs, planars&exotics; each section has links to related topics)
- Loudspeaker Design
- Software Tools
- Getting Started
- diy Resources
- Parts Vendors (sectioned up by region; aka, APAC, AMS, EMEA)

I haven't done anything with the WIKI for a while, but there are a few things I should update.
The problem with adding all those categories suddenly is that there's little information to fill them with. As a result, all the existing articles will be split up between them all, and it will just look like there's nothing there except categories. I prefer to create new categories as needed, so that way it stays convenient. If/when we get enough people contributing, we can start adding preemptive categories.

I'm happy to contribute although I don't have much knowledge to do so. I recognize that there isn't a lot of info there but by taking some threads out of the system and then linking projects and the existing articles then I think that we can fill most of them with at least some content.
Also, tagging threads as potential wiki articles and then requesting the OP of that thread to contribute is quite reasonable also.
I'm sure that people have received quite a lot of help from the site so asking them to give back really isn't out of turn, is it?
Cheers,
Dave.
I agree with your entire post.
Maybe there is one category we can pick to focus on?
Someone made a thread to list all the DIY amps. We could probably ask that person to put the list up on the wiki and then we could go about documenting those amps, with the help of their creators?

Sounds like a grand idea, provided that the creators are willing to help.
It would also be a good idea to create a place for those folks to send wiki articles into a queue to be processed by volunteers. ie - for those that just don't want to learn wiki syntax.
does anyone have delete permissions for articles? I accidentally created WikiIntroduction and Introduction; I need to get 'http://www.diyaudio.com/wiki/Introduction' deleted.
Guys, I've created the wiki page [wiki=[WikiStructure]]%[/wiki] so that we can collect our thoughts on how to re-org the wiki.
It's basically a copy/paste from my post above (with some additions). Can we discuss this to see how to make it work? Perhaps we should start a new thread?
Cheers,
Dave.

Unfortunately, I think we two are the "guys".
Why not contact Ostripper, he is doing a gargantuan project and I think a WIKI page would be the best place to document it.

That project looks awesome! But I have one problem with it... Everything in it is sooooo[o+] far above my head that when I try to climb up to understand it, the delta in air pressure gives me a nose bleed. 🙂
I'd love to write up the build plan for it, but I'd need to someone to translate it into 'stupid' for me first. For now, I've put it on my [wiki=dfidlerToDo]To Do[/wiki] wiki while I attack some of the wiki fundamentals first.
But reading it tells me that the templates that we create for these kinds of projects need to have a section for "additional modifications" where people can add offer their own improvements on build plans.
Cheers,
Dave.
