WiiM Ultra: who has it and who has already opened it?

This is a relevant question closely related to how to prevent disconnections (due to the ageing of an entry in MAC address table) between client apps and WiiM Ultra.

Which part did you find boring? Or toxic?? How is what I suggested above unrelated to the topic of WiiM Ultra?

This is a public domain. If people spread BS publicly, that is their right to do so. However, if they go on insulting other members who try to help and state facts, I find it my right to respond and call them up on the said/spoken BS.

You don't have to agree or disagree.

The suggestions I shared could help others who may have the same issue. I do not see any problem with that.

OK, but the network configuration is important to anyone that uses a streamer. Not learning how that works and just letting things "happen" automatically runs counter the ethos of DIY, huh?

DAC wise, yeah, the Ultra is mediocre, sort of. It's good for bridging and it has a nice screen.

I do agree that some people are a PITA and the conversation has gone over the wall... there is only so much you can say to people that know just enough that they think they know everything. It gets boring after a while. Specially when they start getting nasty.

I'm just gonna concentrate on making my Ultra work bit perfect and hopefully address the issues with its software.

As far as "my thread"... I have always found that a bit curious. Is there a sense of ownership over a thread? I always figured there wasn't. Do as you wish, but I hope we can salvage the discussion to address bridging devices such as the WiiM Ultra, It seems to be a first of its kind.... not the DAC, mind you, but the ability to do what it does cheaply and allow you to spend the money on a much better DAC as you go along.

I mean, it fixes the audio streaming shortcomings of Android and Chromebooks, sort of like a "logical" reclocker, huh?

Hey, stop it. You are really stirring the pot.

Some of us have "shields" attached to our user names... have you noticed that?

Now, back to audio....

BTW, my "router" doesn't do DHCP. I use a Ubuntu box that has the Apache server, publishes the etc/hosts file ( LAN DNS server ) and runs the DHCP server. My router implements simple routing, a firewall and NAT. It has a managed switch and managed modem on the WAN side and another managed switch on the LAN side.

Seriously man.... stop it.

@jean-paul... you may be right. Just shut this down, we have some people who have one of them all in one ISP-modem-router-switch-WiFi access point boxes which they call a "router"... and they insist on telling the rest of us how to do LAN networking. There is no way to salvage this, I'm afraid.

That is clearly against forum rules and too extreme, Extreme_Boky and tonyEE. It is even rule #1.

Now I am the last one can call easygoing but please stop your quarreling. It leads nowhere. For some reason any subject hovering around or above digital audio seems to get the worst out of people. When you are around long enough you will see a pattern 🙂

It's OK, it is what it is.

I suppose I should mention that I've had my last name registered as a domain in the Internet since 97 and that I have both a simple web site and a mail server on the Internet... since '97.

My name is my email address too: tony@xxxxxx.com

Oh well.

The day we allowed AOL into the Internet, back in 95, we knew we were making a mistake. The Internet was much nicer when only the military, engineers and scientists were in it. The RFCs never envisioned lack of civility and greed.

Usenet was a wonderful place....

alt.evil was fantastic.

Do as you wish. I'm going to bed, not getting into this.
