wierd pedal request

I'm currently building a custom pedal, but I want LEDs on the side of the pedal to light up when a note is played with my guitar. I don't really know much about the guitar signal itself, am kind've following guides, so some help on how to do this would be great.

Well if this is say a Distortion Pedal you could put the LED"s in the Feedback loop of an opamp and they would Lite every time you played a Note and they would also create the Distortion sound.....

Another way I suppose would be to set up a Clipping detection curcuit and set the Clipping threshold really low so every time you played a note the LEDs would lite.......


What type of pedal are you thinking of building???

It is infact simple switching box which I may add bass and treble controls to.

You need a "colour organ" circuit driving LEDs - google !

I've been looking over colour organs, but I have one last questions.

How could i change the mic input to an input jack for guitar, and would it still work?

I would NOT connect this or similar circuits to a guitar as they are LIVE to Mains !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!nasty.

I have seen low voltage versions running off 12v which would be safe.

[A guitar could be used if the components before C3 were deleted and the input into C3 via a level control.]
