It opens to traffic in both directions tonight. As mentioned, they have to bring down the old bridge before they can add the final sections of this new one. So it starts at 6 then 8 then finally 10 lanes a year from now.
It appears our Belle of the Ball has a bit of a hitch. Picture this:

These big cables that can support a lot of snow and angle inward to the towers.
Hmmm...what could go wrong?
The bridge is shut down. Too many cars getting pummelled by big chunks of Mother Nature landing on their windshields. Who knew?
I sure am glad after you spend that kinda coin on a river crossing that you thought about everything.
